James Marsters is, for me, the voice of The Dresden Files. I bought the hardcover first and devoured it in 2 days. I had already preordered the audio book but had to read it myself before listen. I just finished both and must say the compliment each other well.

For me personally, there is no comparison. All of Dresden's books stand alone. But to give an idea where I'm coming from I put Jim Butcher up there with Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Kim Harrison, Arthur C. Clark and Robert Ludlum. These are authors whose books I can read again and again. For me it's not about endings or spoilers, it's about the journey through the story.

Thomas. If they make a movie I would love to see James play Thomas.

I could neither put the book down until it was done, nor could i stop listening to the audiobook until the ending.

I didn't have problems with Ghost Story like a few did. I think every Harry Dresden story gets better then the last. Cold Days is no exception to this rule.

Yes

Wanted more bang, less exposition. Sometimes the character describes her feelings over and over again, was waiting for more answers. I don't mind some things being drawn out more, especially with a series, but there were just answers I thought should come and didn't. They might come in other books but felt a little to drawn out to me.

Fate of Dante's home

Wasn't my favorite. Couldn't put it down but left too wanting (and with any book series I don't mind being left wanting more, this just felt too thin.) Still going to do the rest of the series because it is that good.

Damn Great Start

Some books take me a minute to get into. Some books grab me by the hanging pair and hold on until I finish. This book totally falls into the latter. Great characters, great beginning, really interesting mid-story twist, and and ending that makes you ask, "Okay, what the hell comes next?" I'll be picking up the rest as soon as I can.

I read a few reviews that complained about Rachel's character and the ending ot this book and can't really understand them. I like the Hollows series, I like the characters and I like some things didn't exactly go in the direction one would think (look out for the men who don't belong and don't make assumptions.) I agree Rachel could do more listening to the people around her, but then again I've met many Rachel Maryanna Morgon's before and guess what - they never listen, fall backwards into trouble and pretty much Forrest Gump their way out of the same trouble. If you're a fan of this series, as I am, you will enjoy this book.

As to Marguerite Gavin, no one else does this story like she does (as proven when someone else took on the reading and got a lot of the character interpretations and pronounce names completely wrong.) Can't see listening to this without Miss Gavin - especially her voice of Jinx, which is the voice I hear.

Over all enjoyable and wonderful edition to the series. It's a same you can't pass on Audiobooks like you pass on regular books, I would love to have so many people experience this awesome series.

Bringing Al back, and the relationship between Rachel and Trent moving forward instead of being stuck on the same groove in the record every story.

Voice to the characters, a sense of drama to the story even when characters have to sit back and watch action from afar and a sense that she was born to do this audiobook

Thanks to this book I now am waiting for the next like a crack addict needing a fix. Great story, good ending, interesting additions to the cast. The final battle wasn't as impressive as the on from Web of Lies, but like the 2nd book it served to change things just enough to make you want more. Looking forward to book 4.

I loved how this one ended. In an Urban fantasy you have to have the big fight and this one gives you an end fight like you wouldn't believe, especially since it served to changed things and move the story forward. All hail Gin Blonco, wish there was actually a Pork Pitt to go to because I'd love to taste that cheese sandwich. Looking forward to the next installment.

Gin is one of the best characters to come along, in my opinion, since Harry Dresden. This was an excellent first book and I couldn't wait for the follow-ups, I bought them right after finishing this one. I love how the magic is place in the real world and it fits right in as if it's something we all know about and simply take for granted. If they had 10 stars to rate this I'd give it an 11.

This book was excellent. To many Urban Fantasies have their main characters sometimes too inept for words, wondering into dangerous situations that after about the third of forth book has you wondering how they have lived so long. This character doesn't wonder into anything, he goes in like Charles Bronson on speed and even when he comes out hurt who ever he's fighting knows they've been in a fight. I've always loved vampire stories, but too often vampires are made to be too weak and used to much. (The only exception these days are the vampires in the Harry Dresden series.) There's no vampires in this book (except maybe one) only, immortal alchemists, cute video store managers, Homeland Security's answer to defense against darkness, crazy magic users, homicidal Angels, really pissed off Demons and Devils, and somethings else that's best described as creations afterbirth that lived and grew to something worse then Hell in too many ways. Here's hoping this becomes a series because I'd buy every single volume Mr. Kadrey put out. It's just that good.

The first time I listened I couldn't get into this one, though Marguetite Gavin went a little fast with the reading and didn't catch me. Gave it another try and now I'm seven books in. I have to change my first thoughts on that book. I like the characters, especially Jenk. Racheal, who is one whiney, every complaining little witch who runs towards and falls backwards into trouble makes you want to hug her and smack her at the same time. Ivy, the vampire with a chip on her shoulders and pain on her soul is as endearing as every single friend with issues you can remember having but loving, and Jenk, the tiny voice of reason who came give Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer a run for his money when it comes to biting truths wrapped in snark. This is an excellent piece of fiction and hope the author has lots of stories to come.

I cannot tell if I'd like this series or not. Marguerite Gavin reads the text too fast and with no passion - and I simply can't get into the story. Listening to it feels like reading a text book in college on a subject you're forced to take (like an elective of a language you know you'll never use again.) The words are there, the context is there but given enough length it begins to feel like one long paragraph without any punctuation to separate things. I'm not gripped by the story and I don't feel the characters. I don't think I'm going to make it to part 2.
