Brad Meltzer has come into his own with this book. The plot twists were perfect. My iPod was blazing with this book - I finished it in three workdays - which is nearly a record for me. You won't want to put it away.

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the way Duvall developed the characters.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She PERFORMED the book. Kudos to this narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Vampires are immoral; Guardians are immortal!

    Any additional comments?

One negative thing to say about this book - actually most of the books by female authors I've read. There is WAY to much emphasis on sex. To think that we guys get hammered for being obsessed. Sometimes a hint is better than an explanation of every detail. It is uncomfortable listening to this book while at work which is where I usually listen. I find myself looking around to see if anybody is listening. In this world today, it's too easy to offend someone and the details are a bit TOO detailed for my taste.

Now to the writer's credit, she did an excellent job starting the book off with ACTION. While it navigated through the usual, expected valleys, it still maintained my fascination with the characters and the plot. The introduction to two

I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan. Intensity is still my all-time favorite book - ever, by anyone. I bought YHB2M after seeing the ad on television. I can't express how terribly disappointed I was with this book. This is indeed a story we've heard over and over - you could see a Law & Order episode about the subject. Just don't waste your time with this latest from the greatest. Skip this one and wait for greener grass.

When the Secretary of the Navy's nephew says he believes that two colleagues at a U.S. naval base may be committing fraud, his uncle is skeptical. Reluctant to launch an official investigation based on a relative's vague suspicions, the secretary asks John Mahoney to send his troubleshooter, DeMarco, to check out the story. As DeMarco and his friend Emma, a retired CIA agent, began to investigate, they come to the terrifying realization that an espionage ring has infiltrated the naval base.

I can't get enough of Lawson's characters. He truly weaves a web in this book as we find out more about the mysterious past of the female character. I hope Lawson will write a prequel someday delving into more of her past. And it can't go unspoken that Scott Brick is by far the best reader of the books I've listened to. The man ACTS the books that he reads and adds character to the characters. I highly recommend this reader as well as this author.

Best selling author David Baldacci brings all his brilliant character-building skills to bear in Wish You Well, a literary coming-of-age tale set in Baldacci's native Virginia. Publishers Weekly calls it "his best novel yet...an utterly captivating drama" that offers "bone-deep emotional truth."

"A Real Love Story - Invite the Kids to Listen"
    Overall

This book endeared me to David Baldacci like no other. While it is a departure from his usual Washington-based Camel Club, this book was so meaningful. I forced my sister to sit and listen to it though the force stopped after the first hour. This breathtaking account of a family leaves you tired and exalted at the same time. I almost wanted to pray for the characters before bed. This is real, this is a love story of a family and this is one you'll want to gather the kids around the family matriarch and have her read the story to them. The world doesn't end in this book but it certainly carries on and in a way that is never forgotten - by character or reader. In a word, this book has impact.

With each and every new novel, Dean Koontz raises the stakes, and the pulse rate, higher than any other author. Now, in what may be his most suspenseful and heartfelt novel ever, he brings us the story of an ordinary man whose extraordinary commitment to his wife will take him on a harrowing journey of adventure, sacrifice, and redemption to the mystery of love itself, and to a showdown with the darkness that would destroy it forever.

Now this is a true Koontz book. The man set up a scenario that you couldn't help but ask yourself how you'd react if that happened to you. It's believable and it's terrifying. It doesn't rank up there with Intensity but this is certainly one of Koontz' best projects of late.

A strange doll is left on Tommy Phan's front steps, stranger than anyone could ever imagine. Later he hears an odd popping sound and is intrigued to find it coming to life. Tommy pursues the thing as it scrambles away, and then is pursued by it as it evolves from a terrifying and vicious manikin into a larger, more formidable opponent bent on killing him. What in the world is this thing and why is it after him?

    "Nice Shallow Read"
    Overall

This book is typical of the "new" Koontz. In recent years, he seems to have gotten away from the serious serial killers that could very much be reality. Now, it's as if he's trying to replace King whom I never really like anyway. I've grown weary of the weird and unbelievable from the mind of Koontz recently but this book was a true surprise for me. The humor - the characters - the narrator - it all just worked. I found myself laughing out loud so many times with this book even with my headset on. While many would call Koontz a thriller writer, and this may have been intended as a thriller (though Koontz himself explains the writing method as more humor), this book is a comedy! I was reminded constantly of The Munsters.

In six minutes, one of us would be dead. None of us knew it was coming. So says Wes Holloway, a once-cocky and ambitious presidential aide, about the day that changed his life forever. On that Fourth of July, Wes put Ron Boyle, the chief executive's oldest friend, into the presidential limousine. By the time the trip came to an end, Wes was permanently disfigured, and Boyle was dead, the victim of a crazed assassin.

This is my first Meltzer novel to read and I must say it was a big hit. The book is well put together and he tied up most of the loose strings. It was easy to read and follow and you didn't get things thrown at you from outside. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've already added all of the other Meltzer unabridged books to "My Next Listen." THAT is how much I liked this books. Oh, one other thing, this narrator has read quite a few books that I've listened to and he is by far the best narrator I've heard. I've also searched out other books that he had read so I could pick them up as well. GREAT job by both writer and reader.

Moonlight Bay: a safe, secluded small town that is at its most picturesque in the gentle nighttimes that inspired its name. But now, somewhere in the night, children are disappearing. Christopher Snow believes that the children are still alive. He is convinced the disappearances have everything to do with the catastrophic effects of secret research conducted deep within Fort Wyvern. To keep those secrets, violent and powerful forces are willing to conceal even the most heinous crimes.

    Overall

I first read Dean Koontz with Intensity. That was the best book I've ever read. I went on to read many of the books he had out then. These days, Koontz' writing has gotten too humorous. While humor is a nice addition to some volumes, to many it is a nuisance. Seize the night is just way out there - so far that I cannot go there. Couple that with the fact that the narrator of this book is hard to listen to for more than 15 minutes at a time and you have a book that is impossible to listen to. I'll try it again down the road but right now, I'm giving up on this book.

In his explosive new book, New York Times best-selling author Bill Gertz uncovers the most significant threat to U.S. national security today: America's enemies, including radical terrorist groups, are arming themselves with the world's most dangerous weapons. And they're doing it with the help of America's supposed allies. Worst of all, the United States has let it happen.

I love a book that forgets the lines of party and division and just puts the truth out there for all to dissect. Let the pundits spin it but in the end, there is the truth. That's the feeling I had throughout listening to this book. Mr. Gertz pulled no punches and let the chips fall where the may. This is one of the most enlightening books I've read regarding the modern stance of America in the world today.
