"There are no "Good Guys" in Abercrombie's world."
"You have to be realistic"
Well developed characters, all motivated by self interest. Not innocents motivated by some sense of duty or service. If that is not your kind of story, find another author.
Anytime the "Bloody Nine" makes an appearance.
Blood splaches all over the screen.
Abercrombie is not for the faint hearted that like happy endings. He creates complex characters that all have their virtues and flaws. Everyone can be a hero or villan depending on the perspecctive.
"Middle School morality tale from a Christian Book"
Superficial, simplistic, not written for an adult, and weak even for the target age.
no
Narration was not bad, but hate background music during narration.
Found it bad enough to be amusing and finish the 5 hr.
"Brightness Reef"
Sifi at it's best. Love Brin's treatment of the human condition. Aliens are are humanity from a different perspective. This is a review of Brin's whole Earth Clan series. Start with "Sun Tide" and go to the end of this universe. Well worth the ride.
"The Way Of kings"
Brandon Sanderson at his best. Complex and rich world, people with real feel, flaws and all. You flow with the the subjects, limited knowlege of the rules of the world, learn as they learn. Reader has to follow along and live as the subjects of the narrative. Putting the reader into the "world" is the mark of great fantasy. This is Epic Fiction for the Epic Fiction lover. No a simple adventure tale. Look forward to years of an unpredictable fatasy ride. Glad Sanderson took up Wheel of Time. Helped me find a new master of the craft (if!! he holds up to expectation and I think/hope he will).
