The sorcerer Alder fears sleep. He dreams of the land of death, of his wife who died young and longs to return to him so much that she kissed him across the low stone wall that separates our world from the Dry Land, where the grass is withered, the stars never move, and lovers pass without knowing each other. The dead are pulling Alder to them at night. Through him they may free themselves and invade Earthsea.

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

I bow to the brilliance of a new master of the fantasy world. He has captured the essence of dragon lore with this brilliant story of courage and bravery. I await a chance to hear his next work. These failing eyes can not stop the images that were invoked in my mind at this work of art and by the great narration that helped me to conjure those images.
