Imagine a Britain stripped of democracy, a world of the not-too-distant future in which freedom has been surrendered willingly to a totalitarian regime which rose to power by exploiting the people's worst fears and most damning weaknesses.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Loved him in Sex Lives of Cannibals. He brings the story to life and makes the commute more enjoyable.

At age 26, Maarten Troost decided to pack up his flip-flops and move to a remote South Pacific island. The idea of dropping everything and moving to the ends of the earth was irresistibly romantic. But he should have known better.

If you could sum up The Sex Lives of Cannibals in three words, what would they be?

    Funny

    Funny

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sex Lives of Cannibals?

The airplane landing (or not) made me swerve off the road with laughter.

What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?

His timing is perfect and his delivery is appropriate. The author has a dry, Intelligent sense of humor. Vance's interpretation is spot on.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I loved hearing it in the car. My travels around Atlanta were made much more enjoyable because of this book. I wish it had been longer.

    Any additional comments?

This book is FABULOUS! I also enjoyed Lost on Planet China by the same author. I did not, however, enjoy Getting Stoned with Savages. It is not up to par with the other two stories and not worth the read.

Against the romantic backdrop of Edwardian Egypt, the irresistible Amelia Peabody and her charmingly unconventional family prove themselves to be formidable foes of villainy. In The Ape Who Guards the Balance, Amelia must muster all of her considerable skills of detection to unravel a snarled web of stolen archeological treasures, murderous cults, and fallen women.

What made the experience of listening to The Ape Who Guards the Balance the most enjoyable?

Barbara Rosenblat is a phenomenal narrator who breathes life into the characters and vividly interprets the story.

What did you like best about this story?

I love Ancient Egypt. The historical fiction element relating to archaeology and ancient Egypt, combined with great characters and a murder mystery......Does it get any better than this?!

Which character – as performed by Barbara Rosenblat – was your favorite?

Amelia Peabody Emerson. If I were born in the 1800's, I think I could have been her.

  • The Power of Now

To make the journey into The Power of Now you need to leave your analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. Access to the Now is everywhere - in the body, the silence, and the space all around you. These are the keys to enter a state of inner peace.

Kosmas says: "I'm so glad I got this book!"

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The information was fascinating, but packaged with a ribbon of ethereal frippery that was a bit over the top.

What other book might you compare The Power of Now to and why?

The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes is much easier to digest and gets to the point quickly. The information and guidance from both books is nearly identical.

What didn’t you like about Eckhart Tolle’s performance?

There was an occassional chime that was irritating, although it did wake me from my audio-induced stupor several times. The narrator was incredibly dull and hypnotizing.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    NO!
