All is not well in the Eight Kingdoms. In Lyonya, King Kieri is about to celebrate marriage to his beloved, the half-elf Arian. But uncanny whispers from the spirits of his ancestors continue to warn of treachery and murder. A finger of suspicion has been pointed toward his grandmother, the queen of the Ladysforest elves, and that suspicion has only intensified with time and the Lady’s inexplicable behavior.

In an attempt to be "helpful", I am going to tell you the truth. This was a decent book about what happens in each of the relm's after Kerri became king. If you are looking forward to Paksenarrion adventures you will be dissapointed. Paksenarrion was mentioned several times as "I thought Paks would show up but she did'nt." I had the same thought all the way to the end. Two books in a row about Paks without Paks! I do not understand why authors have to leave the star out of their books. I hope that knowing this ahead of time will let you enjoy the book more than I did as it would have been decent if I had know it was'nt about her.

On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast.

The Ghost Brigades are the Special Forces of the Colonial Defense Forces, elite troops created from the DNA of the dead and turned into the perfect soldiers for the CDF's toughest operations. They're young, they're fast and strong, and they're totally without normal human qualms.

Old mans war was great, lots of action, laughs, etc..., and it included a section with the Ghost Brigade where they were an elite fighting force that kicked but! In Ghost Brigade the only thing they did was talk their way thru the whole book with one exception, a short un-impressive small fight.
The story holds your attention. But if your expecting action or anything like Old Man's War to continue where it left off, Save your money! Good for a five dollar sale.

It was more than an incident: It was a deadly assault across the 38th parallel. It was the Korean War. In the fear and the frenzy of battle, those who had served with heroism before were called again by America to man the trenches and sandbag bunkers. From Pusan to the Yalu, they drove forward with commands too new and tanks too old, brothers in war, bonded together in battle as they had never been in peace....

They were the young ones, the bright ones, the ones with the dreams. From the Nazi-prowled wastes of North Africa to the bloody corridors of Europe, they honorably answered the call. War - it was their duty, their job, their life. They marched off as boys and they came back - those who made it - as soldiers and professionals forged in the heat of battle....

Navy Corpsman Elliot Carlyle joined up to save lives and see the universe. Their penance could prove fatal - for the Qesh, a strange alien race detected but still mysterious for six decades, have made violent first contact. Suddenly countless lives depend upon Bravo Company - perhaps even the fate of homeworld Earth itself.

I should have read the reviews! It gets two stars only because the story line would have made a great book. The problem is, it was one very long lecture. After nearly every statement or question there would be 10 to 20 minutes of lecture of how this atom affects that one or how this muscle works with this blood vessell, etc...
    Pass on this one!!!

I found myself in the struggle with them fighting off evil people and protecting the good ones. I enjoyed this and look forward to the next one.

Captain Eric Weston and his crew encounter horrors, wonders, monsters, and people; all of which will test their resolve, challenge their abilities, and put in sharp relief what is necessary to be a hero. A first-rate military-science-fiction epic that combines old-school space opera and modern storytelling, Into the Black: Odyssey One is a riveting, exhilarating adventure with vivid details, rich mythology, and relentless pacing.

Hard to listen to due to the very fast narration but still worth it if your into the series. This book is not up to the standards of the others in this series but after I got used to the speed freek reading it, I got into the story and was not to dissapointed. Loved the first 3 books which made this one a book not to miss as it continued the saga. It's worth a credit if your into the series.

Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive. Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others.... I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others - including John. But so are they....
