This is what happens when a relationship is started in the Worst Way! It dosn't matter how much you Love each other.......There will be issues of Trust. They have to Fight for it! Great follow through on the series. I am looking forward to the next book "Reckless."
I Love Kiaria and Kellens story. It is in many ways a different story from the other perspective. It was nice to have questions answered.
Moning has this book stuffed with so many twists and turns, you know there Has to be several more to follow!
Questions answered, revenge taken, more problems for Dublin to deal with! You thought the "Book" was dealt with? Relationships? Christian? It's going to be a Damn Long Wait after this book for the Next book.......
But isn't that what Karen Marie Moning does Best?
I love how much Rachel and Trent grow and find they really can trust each other. There are endless possibilities for their future. Ivy is realizing she can be the person she always wanted to be. Jenks.....they still can't survive without him thank goodness. Everyone owes Rachel after this and I can't wait to see what they get into next!
Love the new Couple!
Please don't make me wait long for the next book!
Book 2 slides seemlessly into where we left off in Book 1. And once again we are left at the beginning of something ...... So Big.....
If you like Series like "The Wheel of Time" you will Love this one. It's off to an Amazing Start.
Even though I knew how it had to end I was Still Heart Broken at the end. I fell in love with these Characters and Hated the thought that the Dream would die.
This Series is Exceptional. Davina Porter is an Excellent Narrator and her voice is perfect for the subject matter.
I recently read a 1 star review on the book and was Astounded! I almost took it personally, that's why I am writing this review.
As with Most Great Books their are some slow spots. Some people have a hard time getting through the first chapter of this book. It's ALL background information you need for later! It's the set up that makes this book work! Have Patience!
You need to know the history of Clair and Frank. You need to know she was a war nurse and healer before the time of Antibiotics. She was an Orphan who lived a nomads life with her Uncle on Archeological Digs . Otherwise she would not have survived what happened to her. You need to know there had been such a long separation from Frank, and their marriage was still very new. You need to know he was older than her, loved her but was a bit arrogant, condescending, and a bit controlling. You need to see some of the current history, and superstitions so all of the pieces come together. It's all reference.
You are given all this information because Diana Gabaldon was by trade a Research Analyst. She knows how important the little details are. Her stories are so detailed she brings people and places in history to life for us. So yes there are some dry spots, but I would find myself thinking "Oh that's how it happened" as the details all clicked into place. It might not show up until the end of the book or even in another book but it is necessary.
This book lays the foundation for an Amazing Series. If you don't take the time to read the floor plans you will miss an Amazing Ride through history and what it was really like to live in the time. She didn't sugar coat it like they do in most time pieces, you get the disturbing truth. MOST OF ALL .........You will miss the Love Story of Jamie and Clair which is timeless, it is aching, it is heart rending, it is sexual, its Love as it is meant to be. Every woman wants their own Jamie.
So do yourself a favor and get through the first chapter and you will fall in love with the series too.
Most of the Long Time Fans of Sookie have read or listened to the series more than once. So if you were paying attention to more than the Sex Scenes...... all of the clues were there. We all knew where this would end, and Charlain Harris has done a Great Job of pulling up all the loose ends.
Forget all the crap in the internet and sour grapes, this is a Good Book. We watched an Innocent Sookie take a walk on the wild side with the "Supes", have all of her firsts, and come out whole at the other end, scared but whole. The one thing Sookie was always very clear about was that she would stay Human. It was her Humanity (along with her Fey Blood) that attracted all the "Supes" to her, and the one thing they all wanted to take away from her.
We learned in the last book that Eric actually Was what Sookie always feared. Eric had used Sookie to his best advantage even though he hid it well, and push come to shove he would let go of her. It was Pam who forced him to be honest with her. In this book Sookie faces facts, and realizes Eric planed to "turn" her and have her as his girl on the side expecting her to give up Everything including her life for him.
Sookie is forced to dig herself out with the help of her friends. She realizes that her goals for life have not changed from the innocent girl who started this journey. She still wants marriage, children and a normal human life with someone she loves and respects. Sam has always been there, and even though he is a shifter, he is not a "Ware". Same has gone through some big changes since his Near Death Experience and realized he wants to walk away from the wild side. What he wants is a life with Sookie. He even loves her enough to let her go... to keep her safe. So its one final ride with Sookie trying to survive the Supernatural world and Stay Human.
It woud be nice to have another book with Same and Sookie together......It could happen!
I could not get into this. I read all the 50 Shades Books but this gets into Humiliation and Degridation real fast.
I LOVE where this story went.
Everyone had to get a little understanding of each other to get past age old hate, to save them all. The world changes for them all anyway. The end of this book opens up a whole new world of options, possibilities and dangers for Rachel and Trent.I hope the Kim Harrison goes there even if it takes Rachel into a different series. It will be sad to leave old friends behind but that makes room for the new. Growth always come at a cost.
