Don't know, only listened to it.
Professor Von Igelfeld. He is so complex to everyone else but paradoxically so because he is so simplistic in his personal view of things. By simplistic I mean that he follows certain rules for everything in his life which then cause difficulties in his relationships with others. Even though his actions make your jaw drop sometimes in disbelief, you can't help but connect with and feel for Von Igelfeld.
The perfect tone of the Professor's view of things. The way he reads makes it even funnier.
This series is one of my absolute favorites. I have listened to the series twice and will definitely listen to it again. There is far too much time between each book. Alexander McCall Smith is a superb writer. I would highly recommend this series.
Better reader, better story
The premise was a good one, but I just didn't connect with the characters.
Had more expression; her voice made me sleepy.
Yes. Just to hear Sorbo's voice.
Finding out about what it was truly like to film Hercules.
The pleasure of hearing Kevin's voice. I can't say the same for Sam's voice, it lacked expression though wasn't unlistenable.
I liked the way that Sorbo still maintained his privacy even though this was about a very personal issue that he went through.
I can't say I really liked anything "best" about it. I usually enjoy medical nonfiction, but found the stories kind of boring. I don't know if this had to do with the narrator. No inflection or differentiation between characters by voice. I also found it irritating how political views were inserted in the narration. I guess he had every right to do so because it is a nonfiction account of cases he was a part of, but for some reason it seemed to take away from the actual story that was being told.
This book keeps you wanting more; it makes you laugh and cry; sometimes at the same time. The readers are excellent. I didn't feel at any time that the author was belittling or putting herself above others. It is a genuine heartfelt story that is believable. I would listen to this again.
