Great story! My 6 year old and I really love the story. We forget sometimes that they are owls but then the owl facts are put in the story so nicely! It's a great mystery book.

This was an extremely funny and heart wrenching book.

Aunt Florence. She reminds me of almost every woman in my family.

We will be putting this book on our - Will Listen Again, section. Bought this book for a two day (6-8 hour drive each day) car trip with the kids. It was such a good book, that my 8 yr old daughter would be angry when we had to stop for gas/bathroom breaks. As soon as the car started back up, she would start demanding that we turn the story back on.

The story starts with characters that don't look like everyone else. Carter and Sadie are siblings, but they are different. Their family is bi-racial. Carter looks like his father, dark complexion with dark eyes. Sadie looks like her mother, pale skin, her hair the shade of caramel and pale eyes. No one would ever consider them brother and sister and it makes them angry when people ask. Their mother was killed in a mysterious way and the kids were raised apart and very differently. Carter was raised by his father, a historian, and has to travel the world, always moving, home schooled and doesn't have any friends. Sadie is raised by maternal grandparents in ENGLAND. She never gets to go anywhere, she becomes rebellious preteen, goes to a boarding school and has several close friends. Carter and Sadie only see each other for ONE DAY twice a year. All of a sudden something happens to their father.

So now we have two siblings, who are sort of strangers to each other, nothing in common, who have to try and stop an Egyptian God. Oh yea, and he wants to kill them (forgot to mention that earlier). Just because someone shares your DNA, does that mean you can trust them - with your life?

This is my first Kevin Free book, but I am great fan of Katherine Kellgren's work on the "The Bloody Jack, tales of Jackie Faber."

Yes, we do want to listen to it all at one time. We are on the second of the series right now. I had to promise my child that I would not listen to it until she gets back from school. This is also I book, she can not listen to at bedtime, not because it's scary, but because she would NEVER go to sleep until it was over.

I wonder if the story would have sounded different (better or worse), if the characters would have been able to read their parts they were playing all through the book. Right now Kevin reads his chapter as Carter and changes his voice for Sadie and Katherine Keller does the same in her chapters as Sadie. Would it not have been better if Katherine could have read Sadie's part throughout.

It's up there in the top 5 books.

I loved the action and reaction aspects. Everything you touch, say, do - every action has a reaction. What if you decided to wait 5 minutes? I think every single person has a point in their life where they think, "If I could only go back and change this one thing in time.."

Imaginative - Spooky - Funny

One of my favorite parts of the book is when Scarlett and Nobody (Bod) meet. Little Scarlett tells her parents that she's made a new friend in the graveyard. "What's his name dear?", "Nobody" . So her parents think that he's an imaginary friend. Then Scarlett thinks that Bod has imaginary friends too - the ghost in the graveyard, which she cannot see, so they must be pretend.

I have not had a chance to listen to other stories, but I will soon.

Yes! I was hooked into the story from the beginning - When the man name Jack, murder's Bod's family.

I will listen to almost anything that Katherine Kellgren reads. She is wonderful! I hear the voice and can clearly imagine the character. This story beginning reminded me of Jane Eyre or Oliver Twist character. Then the magic happens! Are they good or are they evil? Who can you trust?

I think this story might be too scary for a child under the age of 8 because it does deal with abandonment of parents and some scary creatures.

The story starts off a little slow and repeats several phrases over and over. But overall it's erotic.

I really liked this book. Even from the beginning when she's first discovered that she's become invisible and trying to figure everything out. I'm right along with the character thinking "Hey - I feel that way too." The story is well written. I wish our reader would have used just a touch more voice differentiation during the sarcastic remarks, but over all a good job.

I tried hard to like this book. I listen through the first part thinking that I just needed to get into the characters. But the longer I listen to it, the more depressed I became. This story doesn't pull the reader into the story, it just pulls the reader down.

I am very surprised by past reviews. I have listened to the entire book hoping that it would pick up or get more interesting. The basis theory of the story is almost identical to the Twilight series, but none of the grab your attention sections. I felt like I was reading a bad version of a Harlequin Romance novel. It was one of those books that make you think that a publisher said - "It has to be longer - you need X number of pages" So let's keep repeating the same thing over and over again.
