Starts off a little slow and never really fulfills its potential. Although it could be that The Course of Empire just doesn’t live up to the expectations I had built up for the book after reading the cover. It’s not a bad book; I was just expecting more of a military background. If you’re looking for a military sci-fi book there are much better. If you’re just looking for a good sci-fi book there are better.
In conclusion The Course of Empire is worth a listen only after exhausting other military sci-fi or contemporary sci-fi selections from Audible.
First of the series and my least favorite book of the four I have listened to, but still very good. Alternate history and military SCI-FI fans will love these books! I have listened to the first four and I enjoyed them all.
I love this book 10of10, best of Larry Niven , Jerry Pournelle!
One of the best Sci-Fi books I have ever read, and loved it just as much on Audiobook!
I did like this book and I would recommend reading it to a friend. I just feel like the way the book was written got old fast. I am not a big fan of journal entries being how a story is told. Still the pluses of the book out way the negatives and it is worth the time and credit.
I have loved every book that I have read or listened to by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle so I am not sure if my expectation for this book was too high or how I feel about it. Was a very good book and I enjoyed it very much, but it is defiantly my least favorite book by them that I have read. But still a book worth your time.
I am sure people won’t agree with me, but I found this book very boring and I didn’t like it much at all. Not worth getting into why I didn’t like this book, because I feel that I have wasted enough time on it as it is.
I did love this book, and it is defiantly worth the time, and credit. I have just recently been turned onto the world of hard sci-fi and so far this is my favorite book of that type that I have read or listened to. I love military sci-fi and although I wouldn’t consider this a military sci-fi book, it does fulfill my need for action and hold off my lack of patience.
I was very surprised that I liked this series.
I started listening to Monster Hunter series after a recommendation from a friend. I was pleasantly surprise how entertaining this series is. Definitely worth the time and credits to listen to the full series, and I am looking forward to the next book.
