I started the Iron Druid Chronicles some time ago and liked the books, but it was the narrator that I really liked. And now someone's gone and had him reading Shakespeare or something for the last six months... what happened? He used to sound like a guy, telling me his story (which was a big part of the attraction), and now he sounds like a Narrator, With Extra N, all deep, abnormal voice and over-pronunciation like I'm listening to Theatre.

Otherwise, the book was pretty good... it continues the saga into the beginnings of Ragnarok. I especially enjoyed the part where Granuaile is able to shift and Oberon is laughing at her. *I* was laughing so hard I nearly wet myself, and had to excuse myself from the office to outside.

I just wish the ending was a little more climactic... maybe it's because I'm listening, not reading, but the endings always seem so rushed. Overall, it was pretty good, though I liked some of the previous books better.

This book seemed a bit slow getting started, but once it did, it took off. I love the alchemical references, the intricate and believable characters, the historical settings... My only complaint is that the main character, Diana, seemed to have times when she was believable and other times when she'd seem to have a wild mood swing and be someone else entirely. I'm not sure if this is something that plays out in the story eventually and it's deliberate, or it's because the author didn't have a good feel of how her main character would act in a certain situation. Overall, though, I highly highly recommend this book. It's incredible, and the narrator was absolutely perfect for this book (seriously, her 'voices' are amazing, and her pronunciation mostly spot-on). I look forward to the other 2 books in the series by this author and this narrator.

The story was wonderful, but the narrator is awful! All of her character 'voices' sound drunk or brain-dead, and the droning monotone of her voice is terrible. I almost gave up listening to this book just because of it - even though I was intrigued by the story. I can see buying these books and reading them, but I probably won't be purchasing another audio book with this narrator.

I haven't listened before, but I'd definitely listen again. He sounds delectable.
