Penniless and 34th in line to the throne, Lady Georgiana Rannoch finds herself in a truly draining state of affairs. To escape her hateful brother, Georgie accepts an invitation from the Queen to represent the royals at a wedding in Transylvania. But at the macabre- looking castle, Georgie finds the bride with blood running down her chin, and a wedding guest is poisoned.

This series is a little different from those books and series that I normally read, which has made listening very enjoyable. The stories are well written and entertaining. The performances are absorbing of my attention.

Georgie, aka Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie, cousin of King George V of England, is penniless and trying to survive on her own as an ordinary person in London in 1932. So far she has managed to light a fire and boil an egg... She's gate-crashed a wedding... She's making money by secretly cleaning houses... And she's been asked to spy for Her Majesty the Queen.

    Story

This is a bit of a cross between a Bridget Jones and a light mystery. The story was a nice change of pace for me and so good all of the way through that I plan to listen to all of the other books in the series.

Ms. Kellgren's performance brought the characters to life and made them distinctive and interesting. She has a very nice voice.

One other point to make is that this story is set in London (mostly) in the early 1930s, which is also a very nice change for me. I seem to read stories in may other settings, but not the early 20th century. I'm really enjoying that setting!

    Fun and entertaining!
