Fall in love all over again. Seventeen-year-old Taylor Lawton has a crush on Timothy Cooper, a boy at her school, and as crushes go, things are normal. He ignores her. She doesn't speak to him. Until their English teacher, Mrs. Walker puts them on a project together. A turn of fate then throws them both for a loop. For an entire week, they will stay beneath the same roof. Will this be too much togetherness? What will Taylor do with Timothy's painful secret? A light audiobook with a touching storyline, this tale is enjoyable for both young adults and grown-ups alike.

This is a fairy tale romance, great for young teens. The narration suits the story perfectly- a young sweet, easy to listen to voice, with excellent attention to and portrayal of the different characters.

How does someone give their heart away when they don't have all of the pieces? Not that Makenna really wants a second chance at love anyway. She is stuck in her tragic past, secretly living every day for her deceased fiancé, while her new boyfriend, Drew, is gently nudging her into the present. Desperate to appear normal again, she slaps on a happy face and goes through the motions of a normal, healthy relationship - but with the exception of even a single kiss.

Gail Shalan's voice is soothing, yet animated. She brings great definition to each character (male and female) The multiple characters go through many emotions and personality development, which are subtly yet powerfully evoked by the narrator. The tone used for the main character made me sense Mac's underlying strength - which emerges as the book progresses. This was a very enjoyable recording.

After a year of preparation, eighteen year old Raven Smith has researched and planned out every detail of her summer vacation in Europe; those plans DO NOT include boys, romance, or falling in love (definitely not the last one). But, even before the plane touches-down her well-laid plans go dreadfully off-course.

This is a well written, intriguing book. I love the way the story glides slowly towards the para normal and then bursts into it head first. At this turning point, the narrator moves from doing a very good job portraying three young women's contrasting personalities to an outstanding job transforming a complex cast of characters into unforgettable demons, angels, friends and foes. Along with the writers ability to create memorable characters in this action packed story, the narrator succeeds in bringing them to life. Gail Shalan's various foreign accents and her well defined development of each character, as they transform and grow in complexity, enrich this story. The successful narration of this novel creates a vibrancy that allowed me to see this story in my mind's eye as if it were a movie....many of the characters vivid personalities remain in my imagination days later. This audio book is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it, especially for teens.

Historical fact-based fiction about the famous spy who played a key role in Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign. This narrative takes place between July 1861 and July 1862 and is the first in a series about the Confederate Secret Service and the women who were its most effective agents. Belle Boyd was the first woman in American History to be formally commissioned an army officer.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Shenandoah Spy to be better than the print version?

The narration brings the story to life! The well defined voices the narrators bring to the many colorful characters make this account of the civil war a joy to listen to.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It is very interesting to hear the Confederate view of the Civil War, especially through the eyes of a young smart and brave women, Belle Boyd.

    Any additional comments?

I would love to recommend this audio book to many of my friend's children as it would be an excellent fast paced and historically informative story for the many youth interested in the Civil War. However, due to the explicit and overly detailed sex scenes I, unfortunately cannot. I believe the pornographic scenes are a distraction for adult readers as well and would be more effective with more subtlety. I hope the author considers releasing an edited version so that this wonderful audio book can reach a wider audience.
