I read this book many years ago, and was a great read with the help of a character list at the front of the book. i'm normally not a fan of abridged books but this is one book that you could easily abridge by 60%. still a great story but maybe only for die hard fans of the authors.

excellent story and narration, almost none stop action. characters do tend to get lost as to who's who, but doesnt distract from an excellent story, well worth a credit

fantastic story, well narrated, bryson at his best again, very well paced and never dull, almost makes you want to join him, though at a 2400 km walk not quite

got very bored eith this and couldnt finish it, not really what i was expecting. nore like a nazi miss marple story

another great jack reacher novel but cant help feeling that so much is missing with abridged version, kerry shale is fantastic as reacher but wait for full un abridged version

a very good book no doubt, especially for anyone with an interest in overland journeys however the poor narration by the paricipants (now elderly gentlemen) spoil the book somewhat.

the phantom major is to date ther best audible book ive downloaded in the last 3 years. not just for SAS fans but thoroughly entertaining for all. the narrator is excellent give convincing accents to most charactors. a facinating true story with a real british stiff upper lip feel. worth downloading even if only a passing interest in WW2 for sheer entertainment
