This story was fun. The story moves along at a nice pace, the characters are well developed, and the plot is interesting. I found the narrator did a very good job creating a voice that lent an "image" to each character. I was a little disappointed at the start, thinking she had erred with one character, but as the story unfolded I found she had used precisely the right voice. I'll be listening to the subsequent titles in this group, and if they are similar to this one, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Enjoy!
This is another fun read by Elizabeth Peters. As usual, I found Ms. Peters' characters well developed, and the story moves along well enough. Ms. Rosenblatt is a wonderful narrator who infuses each character with personality and color, so that even in an audible version, one can see the story as it unfolds. If you are looking to escape and be entertained, this is a good choice. I will be reading the rest of the Vicky Bliss series after this.
The narrator is top-notch, and suits the ambience of the book very well. The story is interesting, but once it was finished I found myself rather disappointed and unsatisfied. The ending seemed rather contrived, and just did not seem worthy of how the story began.
From the very beginning this book captivated me. I was hesitant to read this because I enjoy Stephen King's writing so much, and I was afraid I would find myself comparing son to father. After a short time it was apparent to me that no comparisons were necessary. The story is intriguing, the characters well developed, and the pace just right.
A tip of the hat for the several references to Stephen King titles through character dialogue. I look forward to a long reader relationship with Joe Hill. This is certainly a worthy debut.
