No one liked CC de Poitiers - certainly none of the residents of the village of Three Pines, each of whom CC had managed to offend. Therein lies the challenge for the Inspector Armand Gamache of the Sûreté du Quebec, called in once again from Montreal to investigate murder in this hamlet. CC has been killed in an apparent electrical accident, and everyone in town has a motive, even the inspector's good friends.

I loved this novel. It was so well written, with such great characters, but as a mystery, it was a bit predictable. I knew who did the murders and why from almost the beginning, but the novel twisted and turned enough to keep me engaged anyway. I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Amelia Peabody inherited two things from her father: a considerable fortune and an unbendable will. The first allowed her to indulge in her life's passion. Without the second, the mummy's curse would have made corpses of them all.

Would you listen to Crocodile on the Sandbank again? Why?

It was a great story with a very amusing narrator. Amelia Peabody is just a fun, entertaining character.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I never could figure out what was going on, despite the limited number of suspects, which is a really good thing in a mystery!

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The story was very well-paced, and the wit of the narrator made reading so enjoyable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but I did enjoy it!

    Any additional comments?

Initially, I found the reader irritating, but I just had to get used to Amelia Peabody's very affected English accent, which I'm sure is an accurate reflection of her social standing and her time period. It was just hard for my very American ears to get used to at first, but in the end, I thought the reader did a good job bringing the character to life.
