I couldn't get past 2 hours in this story. NOTHING HAPPENS. Bo-ring. Boring Boring.
There was a lot of depth to the characters of the story. The actual events could have been told in about 4 hours. I enjoyed 'getting inside' the mind and heart of this main character though, and I like long books.
Eisler is the man. Listened to them all, Love them all. His language skills, Japanese and English are fantastic. He brings the scenes to you with such vision, yet not too wordy. I love this character and his life. Keep em Coming!!!!!!
I was so excited for this to come out. If you have listened to the other two, you wont bother reading reviews, you are just going to get it. You wont be dissapointed. It is long, and thorough and I enjoyed every minute. My only complaint is the same as the first two- Jennifer Ikeda is an excellent narrator and does voices like no one else. I just feel like she is too dramatic and breathy during the narration parts, its a little obnoxious. LOVED THE BOOK, LOVE JENNIFER.
I enjoyed the plot, the versatile narration and the characters. It was a little scattered with a particular kiss thrown in for I have no idea what reason. Also, the end was too quick and easy. Not as good as it could have been for the depth of the plot. Also her amnesia seems convenient and not well handled by the author. It was a good story and I stayed listening, but it could have been better. It was compared to Gone Girl, which was a huge error. Nothing is even close to that story.
This book was very entertaining and well-read. It IS a ghost story so expect it to be a little out there. It was not of the eyerolling "come on" nature, but believable enough to keep listening for the next piece of the puzzle. Very impressed with the narration, lots of different voices and a great pace. I downloaded the next book immediately!
I might like to be more sensitive, but the narrator ruined this for me. I read the first book and couldn't wait for the second story. This narrator killed it. Who directed this and why didn't they correct her? The teenage angst and drama is inherent in the story and the narrator oooooozzzed drama and angst in every sentence. Way over done. Good story, I say read it on paper.
I really like L.S.A. Mulligan (don't call him Liam!). And Jeff Woodman is such a cool narrator. Fun, easy listen. Shorter than I prefer, but like Rouge Island, I didn't feel like anything was missing. I want more Mulligan!!!
This is a good series. I enjoy the character and the narrator is great. Its a short listen, which I neither like or dislike. I would like more, but the story isn't missing anything so I am on the fence. Can't wait for more from DeSilva.
I love the duo of Scalzi and Wheaton. There are a few parts of the story that bored me, but the concept is really fun. Worth a listen if you don't expect anything enlightening or serious. I enjoyed the characters without being terribly invested. I will always choose Scalzi, even though Sci-Fi isn't my favorite genre. Agent to the Stars was better, but this wasn't bad. Worth the credit.
