"Loved every book by JD Robb"
Police drama with a twist. All the "in Death" novels are filled with wonderful characters you'll miss when you finish the book and you'll be delighted to visit with them again in the next. I've read about 20 and I can't wait to read more.
Oh, and if you've ever thought "Not for me, I don't like Sci Fi" think again. The futuristic aspect won't spoil it for you, I promise.
"Too political-too many characters"
I usually love Ben Bova's writing but.... This book might be better read with ones eyes rather than ones ears. There were more characters in the first 3 chapters than I could keep track of. And it was very involved with many political, environmental and financial plots. I love Rudnicki's narration and here he excelled, but not enough to make up for the embroiled story.
"Quite my taste!!"
Loved the stories, varied as they were. Kookie, fun, and gory all at once. How? Read and hear.
"Not her usual"
I love her detective fiction - but this isn't it. It very soft and warm, which wasn't what I was looking for. Others might enjoy while I stopped partway through.
"All is well in the Star Trek Universe"
Fun read - with the usual cast of characters - but I'm a confirmed Trekkie so I'm a little prejudiced!!!!
"Even if you're not a basketball fan"
Wonderful review of the greatest team in --- forever. The ins, the outs and everything in between. Great personalities with enormous egos all portrayed with great writing.
"I'm an impatient reader"
With many books in line, waiting for my time, I just didn't have the where-with-all to stick to this one. I don't want to pan it, it may be just my impatience. But it didn't grab me, which a book has to do for me to spend my time with it.
"I'm a Star Trek Junkie"
This is almost like a continuation of the various Star Trek TV series - with three dimensional characters, great, well structured stories and .... Okay I love this series. It's that simple.
"Good Pulpish reading"
About halfway through I know "who did it" but it was enjoyable anyway. Pulp to its utmost (I love pulp) a great hard-boiled detective story. But Matthew Scudder isn't all loveable, just fun to read about.
"Totally tongue in cheek and excelent at it"
Don't expect anything serious - if you read the plot bits and the reviews you'll know what your in for - just delightful!!!! And if you liked Fuzzy Nation, this follows wonderfully. Oh, and if you read this and like it (I think you will) do read Fuzzy Nation.
"A bit too British for my taste"
Reading is, first and foremost, a matter of taste. IMHO this one's a bit too British for mine. I love a good police procedural but I guess local (US based) cases appeal to me more, and getting through the heavy British accent of the narrator (appropriate as it might be) was too much for me.
