"Great if you want a story bad if you want a system"
This book gives very little information about the "How" to train your memory, and gives some good background on the "What" is memory training. It appeared to market itself as a package / system to help you learn, but had very little good content as a system. Tony Buzan is a great mnemonist, but reveals very little insight in this book.
"Slow start, with a strong building story"
Yes, it is a positive and enlightening story that should be the basis for a modern thinker raising the next generation. Heroic in scale, yet the only superpower is mindful determination.
The wonder as you see the mystique of a mind being built, and the effect of a single mind's effect on the world.
I have not listened to other books of his, but I will now.
Doc is the inspirational figure in this tale for me. I could see other characters that I would love to listen to over dinner, but the man that taught Peekay to think... that is a man that offers true power and wisdom.
This is not written as a first book. This is a novel many try to achieve writing once in their life. It is an aw inspiring heroic tale of an ordinary boy that should have never been on anyone's radar, but became larger than life as life hits him and he trudges forward.
"Majority of Info NOT information from Einstein"
I bought this book too quickly, and the title mislead me.
Many of the concepts in this book are not as thought provoking as I would have thought.
I think he did a fine job, and the narration was done well.
I fell asleep a few times. I thought some of the information was informative, but I had higher hopes. I may have just been disappointed, because I like Einstein, and this was not his work or thoughts I was purchasing, rather a hodge-podge of general information.
If you know it is not Einstein, you may have a better reaction, and go in with less excitement. This may give you a better overall experience. I should have read up on the book a little more, but what a concept - listen in on conversations between Einstein and layman around him. Title of book fail, not a writing fail.
"Little new info"
OK, but not very much information outside of what you can get from 20 minutes worth of google searching.
"Intrigued and then satified"
This book leaves you feeling dumbfounded as the characters in the story are systematically destroyed by an unknown force. I enjoyed the writer's ability to create concern and disgust. Overall, I thought it was a great listen.
"GREAT - best for what it is"
This book explores the delta between science and intuition and points out flaws in our intuition. This has some very great insights into the human psyche and will be a great foundation of knowledge for anyone trying to understand knowledge, intellect, intuition, statistics and a host of other topics that have been brought together over the course of Kahnemn's career. This book can be his legacy.
"Learn about what Memory can do, not a how to"
This book is NOT a How to book on memory, but I was not expecting a how too book. It does give a great personal narrative of how a reported became the US memory Championship. This is a very inspiring story, and he does a great job of showing that anyone can master these techniques.
"Not a prophet, just a guy that is paying attention"
Ray Kurweil's ideas of the future have been very productive in helping individuals know what target to aim towards, when it comes to future planning. One must understand the concepts in this book to handle the business paradigm changes we will face as access to information is coming faster than we can organize it.
"Shameless self promotion, on an interesting idea"
The owner of a genetics company is selling you a book that promotes using genetics and protein testing to get a system view of your body. In turn this will help you make better life, and lifestyle decisions. I have to say, even though a good portion of the time, I felt I was being sold, I also can tell he believes in his philosophy. I find myself believing this could be the key to many people living longer. Not a bad concept.
"Endearing story - No One Handle Death the Same"
Death, cheating and love. What happens when a family has to deal with their personal world falling down, while the world moves forward.
Good book, I see why they made it into a movie. Sorry guys, no blood, gore, or gratuitous sex. This book just deals with a man trying to do the best he can, as he has to deal with emotions, and sometimes that is painful.
