The Dead Path tells the gripping story of a broken man, Nicholas Close. A terrible accident has left him a widower and awoken in him the ability to see the dead. Now, he can’t escape visions of tortured spirits, their last moments caught in horrible, endlessly replaying loops. Nicholas leaves London and returns to Australia, where he is disturbed to see that a heavily treed tract of land in his childhood suburb has somehow escaped development.

I loved everything in this book. I have no idea why on Earth there are so many comments about sex detracting from the story, that is not the case by any means unless I blanked out at just the right moments. I was interested from start to finish.

This is one is like The Stand meets On the Beach. McCammon has a new fan, I'm amazed it took me this long to find this author. Since I have exhausted King I was looking for something that took me on a journey, Swan Song did just that. The book is lengthy but it never dragged for me, McCammon's writing and Stechschulte's narration was a great combo which has left me looking for more from both. The end of the world as it was known came from every enemy state nuking each other; the story starts there and what follows is an epic battle of good and evil.

This story has a great depth. I wanted to read more McCammon after listening to Swan Song (which I also loved), even though the Corbett series is vastly different from Swan Song and maybe not exactly what I was expecting I nonetheless found it rich and entertaining. The main character Michael Corbett is like an early American version of Sherlock Holmes. Edoardo Ballerini is an excellent match for Corbett's character; Corbett has a quiet confidence which is masterfully relayed by Ballerini. I have also listened to the next in the series The Queen of Bedlam and can say Corbett's character continues to grow, his logic and curiosity takes him on a fateful adventure which will lead me to the third soon.

The Perry family's new house is perfect - except for the weird behavior of the neighbors, and that odd smell coming from a dark corner in the basement. Pity no one warned the family about the house. Now it's too late. Because the darkness at the bottom of the basement stairs is rising.

This was the first book of Bently Little that I have either read or listened to, I will certainly look up this author in the future. Bently was able to give extra depth to the story by allowing the reader a look into the crumbling psyche of the characters as their new home scares them to the brink of insanity. Butler's narration is pretty spot on for the book. I had been craving some good haunted house stories lately, this was a pretty good fix.

There is an old, empty house in Devil's Cleave, a deep gorge that leads from the high moors down to the harbour village of Hollow Bay. The house is Crickley Hall and it's large and grim, somehow foreboding. It's rumoured to be haunted. It's thought to hold a secret. Despite some reservations, the Caleighs move in, searching for respite in this beautiful part of North Devon, seeking peace and perhaps to come to terms with what's happened to them as a family. But all is not well with the house....

The book should be called "The Secrets of Crickley Hall" as there is much to find out about this depressing and creepy vacation home. Herbert's dark and stormy night tale of tragedy and suspense is narrated perfectly by Rintoul. I found Rintoul's narration in some parts bordering on theatrical, I would score it as 4.5 if we could give half stars. The story has many layers which made it a "page turner" for me. Overall a great ghost story.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

I almost never read or listen to books again but this is one I will come back to. I am a total Tesla nerd so I really loved the surprising twist of the building.

It's interesting what happens when these neighbors start to talk... and when one curious soul sparks another into an adventure I certainly didn't expect but thoroughly loved. Porter's narration was spot on in bringing the characters fully to life. The book is a mystery, a thriller, adventure and sci fi all rolled into one.

I have enjoyed all of the MHI (Monster Hunter's International) books on audible. Wyman is solid in narration, it's like listening to old friends when he voices the characters. Of course these are completely far fetched and all out monster fun fest but somehow Correia and Wyman make it so matter of fact in this story world. I think you could fully enjoy this book even if you haven't read/heard the others in the series. I think all of the MHI books could stand alone, although it has been fun listening in order and keeping up with their adventures. I hope for many more in this series.

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

This is one of the best books I have read or listened to in a long time. I was not a big fan of the heroine Libby Day in the beginning of the book, however her character continues to evolve and grow into a more capable personality. Libby Day starts her journey by continuing to exploit her family tragedy to scrape by, only she starts to uncover answers she had long closed her mind to. The twists and turns that lead up to "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee Kansas" kept me guessing. The narration was seamless and natural. Lowman, Campbell, Deakins and Dean were all masterful in building the full story. The strong story line kept me engaged from start to finish. So happy I finally dug this out of my wish list!

Seven years ago, Professor Gabriel Kennedy's investigation into paranormal activity at Summer Place ended in tragedy, and destroyed his career. Now, Kelly Delaphoy, the ambitious producer of a top-rated ghost-hunting television series, is determined to make Summer Place the centerpiece of an epic live broadcast on Halloween night. To ensure success, she needs help from the one man who has come face-to-face with the evil that dwells in Summer Place, a man still haunted by the ghosts of his own failure. Disgraced and alienated from the academic community, Kennedy wants nothing to do with it. But Summer Place has other plans....

Overall Supernaturals was a pretty entertaining book. I enjoyed the assortment of characters and the twists and turns the story takes. Golemon doesn't do himself a favors by bringing up Shirley Jackson's book The Haunting of Hill House, I couldn't stop comparing the story line. There are some certain parallels between Hill House and the goings on of Summer Place. Kafer's narration certainly aided to the suspense of the story, however on a few occasions when a Irish or German accent was needed it fell pretty short of believable (fortunately these moments are short with limited dialogue).

I gave high marks because the characters are very interesting, I like the team Golemon assembles as well as the back story of Professor Kennedy and Detective Jackson. The story flowed well, never dragged or got too hokey. This was a great haunted house story!! Goleman leaves the story open for a sequel, I hope to follow the Supernaturals on another ghost hunting adventure.

Summer 1924: On the eve of a glittering Society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. What made the experience of listening to The House at Riverton the most enjoyable?

The narrator Caroline Lee did a great job giving voice to the characters. Kate Morton is a very enjoyable story teller and brings a great depth to the world she creates. The majority of the tale takes place at Riverton, an estate that has been in the family for 300 years. This is a tragic love story filled with "what if" or "what could have been". The book really isn't a mystery... more like a secret that takes a really, really long time to find out. I do not enjoy the romance genre, I mistakenly thought this book was going to be a "thrilling mystery"... with that being said I listened to the entire book because the characters were so very well written and I as a reader wanted to know how they grew up, what happened to them...

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Um no. It was like someone said "I have a secret to tell you" and it takes them 18 hours and 50 minutes to tell you the secret.

What about Caroline Lee’s performance did you like?

Her narration style helped bring the characters to life. I would certainly listen to her again as it was very easy to determine who she was reading (the toughness of East end to the fancy aristocrats).

    Any additional comments?

The author and narrator do a fantastic job with this novel. The book description was very misleading. Yes this story has plenty of tragic love stories but really no mystery... certainly not thrilling! Even though this is not a novel I would have purchased (I thought it was a "thrilling mystery" by the way) I did listen to the entire book because Morton and Lee do such a great job bringing this characters, the times and Riverton to life.

What did you love best about The Janus Affair?

This is a very strong sequel, certainly equal if not better than the first. I enjoyed that there were even more steampunk inventions and more from agent Books. I again loved the narration by Langton. I loved it so much I listened to it in one day.

    I am hooked on MoPO.
