At the center of the intrigue is Hollywood star, Frederic Stahl. September 1938. On the eve of the Munich Appeasement, Stahl arrives in Paris, on loan from Warner Brothers to star in a French film. He quickly becomes entangled in the shifting political currents of pre-war Paris - French fascists, German Nazis, and his Hollywood publicists all have their fates tied to him. But members of the clandestine spy world of Paris have a deeper interest in Stahl, sensing a potential asset in a handsome, internationally renowned actor.

Not really - story was just not that compelling.

What aspect of Daniel Gerroll’s performance would you have changed?

    N/A

Do you think Mission to Paris needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    no.

    Any additional comments?

Even though I listened not long ago, the story has faded from my mind. Not a keeper.

It is the summer of 1976 in Oxfordshire, England, and someone is trying to kill Sally Gilmartin. The only person she can trust is her daughter, Ruth, a young single mother struggling with her own demons. Now Sally must tell her daughter the truth: She is actually Eva Delectorskaya, a Russian émigré recruited for the British Secret Service in 1939.

What made the experience of listening to Restless the most enjoyable?

William Boyd knows how to build suspense like few modern authors.

What did you like best about this story?

The exciting action and vivid characterization. I felt like I was actually in the story. Hated to turn it off when I had to return to my real life.

What about Rosamund Pike’s performance did you like?

    Very nice reader.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    World of Spycraft.

Best-selling author William Boyd—the novelist who has been called a “master storyteller” (Chicago Tribune) and “a gutsy writer who is good company to keep” (Time)—here gives us his most entertaining, sly, and compelling novel to date. The novel evokes the tumult, events, and iconic faces of our time as it tells the story of Logan Mountstuart—writer, lover, and man of the world—through his intimate journals. It is the “riotous and disorganized reality” of Mountstuart’s 85 years in all their extraordinary, tragic, and humorous aspects.

Would you consider the audio edition of Any Human Heart to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version so it is hard to judge that.

What other book might you compare Any Human Heart to and why?

I am a big fan of William Boyd's ouvre. I wish Audible.com would offer his earlier novels as well.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

    His WW-2 era wife Freya.

Who was the most memorable character of Any Human Heart and why?

The narrarator, Logan Mountstuart, of course, in all his humanity.

    Any additional comments?

William Boyd's stories cross categories but they are always full of adventures and unexpected plot turns.
