In the Pacific, as USS Walker is repaired and updated after a previous battle and Reddy is healing from his wounds, planning begins for a bold raid on the very heart of the Grik Empire. But time is running out for the Alliance army in India, and the Allied forces in the west must gather in an unprecedented land, air, and sea campaign to destroy the mighty Grik battle fleet and break through to their relief. All other plans go on hold when the attempt proves more difficult - and more heartbreakingly costly - than anyone imagined.

This is one of those series that I tell everyone about! A mixture of history and Fantasy that really works! The Villains are great and the heroes are wonderful. Full of surprises and twists!
I always read the whole series from start to finish when a new book is coming out.

Anna Pigeon, a ranger for the U.S. Park Services, sets off on vacation - an autumn canoe trip into the Iron Range in upstate Minnesota. With Anna is her friend Heath, a paraplegic; Heath’s 15-year-old daughter, Elizabeth; Leah, a wealthy designer of outdoor equipment; and her daughter, Katie, who is 13. For Heath and Leah, this is a shakedown cruise to test a new cutting-edge line of camping equipment. The equipment, designed by Leah, will make camping and canoeing more accessible to disabled outdoorsmen.

Our favorite Ranger, Anna Pigeon is in danger again. This time it is Anna, alone against thugs who have kidnapped her friends on a camping trip. She has no weapons, they have guns. But they are city boys and Anna is at home in the wilderness. Another chance for a small middle aged woman to show that brains, skill and perserverance can overcome brawn and greed. Anna is like the terminator. She never stops coming when lives are at stake.
This is also a story of courage and selflessness as friends help a paraplegic regardless of the cost. Highly recommended, as is this whole series!

I always enjoy Dicie Cash's books but I was not enjoying this one quite as much. I think the character ED, one of the partners in the domestic Equalizers, fear of spirits was way overdone, and was not as funny as it was meant to be. As with all in this series, there is a sweet romance without ridiculous sex scenes,a lot of humor and a cute story.
I enjoyed this book but not as much as the others. Bring on the next one.

I loved the TV Series and donated to the Kickstrter campaign to get the movie funded. The movie was good and I very much enjoyed this book!!! I hope there are many more to come.
For those of you who never saw the series or the movie. you will still enjoy the book. It is a good mystery with a great cast. Kristen Bell, who starred as Veronica Mars, Narrates, and does a good job. Give it a shot, and then look up the series and movie on Netflix. You won't be sorry except when it ends.

Jane reluctantly agrees to accompany her good friend Cordelia Thorn on a peculiar holiday trip: Cordelia's estranged sister, Broadway star Octavia Thorn, has asked them to attend her wedding. Octavia getting married is no surprise, but her candidate for hubby #4 certainly is. Roland Lester is a reclusive 83-year-old retired Hollywood director. No one can understand how the two met. When the bodies start to drop, Jane realizes it might not be love at all that brought the young diva and the aged director together, but something much deeper, and perhaps more sinister.

I enjoyed the story but could never quite get why Jane was investigating. She is not a cop, or a P. I. and she barely knew the victim. Jane is a Restaurant owner, though she doesn't seem to go there much. She is a lesbian, but only her closest friends know, And she says nothing when others spout hate toward gays, something that happens a lot in this book.

The most interesting character is Jane's best friend, Cordelia.

I enjoyed the story and read the next in the series, which was better, bu I don't think I will buy the rest of the series. I prefer more humor, stronger characters, and less politics in my entertainment.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold ""human error"" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?"

First, if you dont like science, don't get this book. If you don't mind scientific explanations
which are always laced with irreverent humor, this book is gold. The main character is stuck on mars by himself because his crewmates thought he was dead when they aborted the 6 month mission due to a killer sand storm. Nobody is coming back to Mars for 5 years.
What can our hero do to stay alive with no communication and food for 6 people for 6 months. With yankee inginuity and an irrepressable spirit, he has to survive disco music, 70's tv shows, NASA, and Mars. I loved it!

I was worried at first at the slow drawl of the reader, but that got better and the story was a fresh twist on th usual supernatural fare. I enjoyed it very much.It is not often that a house is a main character. These are not the b movie vampires and werewolves. The Vampires are a warlike religeous cult from another planet. If this is the start of a series, I will buy the next one. My only real problem is I wish it had more humor, there there was some. I thought it had potential for much more.

Katie Chandler had always heard that New York is a weird and wonderful place, but this small-town Texas gal had no idea how weird until she moved there. Everywhere she goes, she sees something worth gawking at and Katie is afraid she's a little too normal to make a splash in the big city. Working for an ogre of a boss doesn't help. Then, seemingly out of the blue, Katie gets a job offer from Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., a company that tricks of the trade to the magic community. For MSI, Katie's ordinariness is an asset.

Danger, excitement and love - this is how the glamorous Phryne Fisher is determined to live her life in her second enticing adventure. Walking the wings of a Tiger Moth plane in full flight ought to be enough excitement for most people, but not Phryne Fisher, amateur detective, woman of mystery, as delectable as the finest chocolate and as sharp as razor blades.

Plenty of humor, great characters, A bit of history, and a good mystery.
My only complaint is that I wish Phyne was a little less free with her "favors."
She is a gutsy lady with a big heart and a sense of humor. The narrator is good and the stories are clever. I will read them all with gusto!

This is the start to a series. I love a good series but won't be buying this one. It barely kept my interest, but I did finish it. The reader almost puts me to sleep. The characters were OK, the only humor was the gargoyle. A book about a witch needs some humor to make it work. I geuss the one word I would use to describe this book is "Forgettable"
I won't remember it by next week.

Bruno is a former soldier who has embraced the pleasures and slow rhythms of country life - living in his restored shepherd's cottage; patronizing the weekly market; sparring with, and basically ignoring, the European Union bureaucrats from Brussels. He has a gun but never wears it; he has the power to arrest but never uses it. But then the murder of an elderly North African who fought in the French army changes everything and galvanizes Bruno's attention.

Wow. I loved this book. A slow start but it grabs you, and I loved the village and the characters! I wanted to go live there and know these people. Add in a murder mystery with its roots in the history of this region of France, and you have one of my favorite books.
Part of that was because I was so surprised by it.
    Wrong title I think!
    Give it a try!
I am going out to get a french cookbook!
