It's good and probably a game changer when it was written - but let's keep this in perspective. It's mediocre compared to today's writers. It's literature which should be talked about in Sociology or possibly even Poli-Sci classrooms - but it's flat for entertainment.

Not terribly entertaining...but educational. If you're wanting to be swept away and escape..avoid this book. If you enjoy peeking behind the curtain to see the actual lives of mass murderers, and if there was a telling psychopathology or ANYTHING to use as a warning...then this is your book. I have a BA and MA in psychology so i found this educational and engaging...but it wasn't fun.

Pre-Colacci (the current narrator who has gone back and done a few of the early books for us)...I'm really glad this wasn't the first book I picked up of John's - because I probably wouldn't have kept coming back. Listen to this book later - and you'll enjoy the story...but the narrator is really bad...I mean it...really.

David Colacci could read me a technical manual and I'd keep pressing play. But Lescroart is solid if not spectacular at times. This book does not disappoint.

This isn't a "fun" read...but it's almost essential for any fellow dog lover. I had to buy it on my Nook (don't tell Amazon I use a Nook) - to keep up with the pictures and stuff. But it's stuck with me (particularly since I have a few Psychology degrees and she uses behaviorism and social psychology a lot in her training...)

I've been reslistening to the old Harry Bosch books when Dick Hill was the narrator - so it's not fair to compare Len Cariou to him...but Harry and Jack Reacher both have the same voice to me...

Otherwise this is a great book - engaging early and doesn't feel forced (which is amazing considering how many Bosch books are out there now). But anything Connelly does is an instant classic for me...and this one doesn't disappoint.

I wanted to like this more than I did. The characters were "too perfect". I am a Navy vet and I am 100% behind our boys - but give me a real story. Great movie...but the book felt forced.

But anything Steven Weber narrates is well worth a credit!!!

I have to be honest - I started this book and didn't think I would keep going...slow and tedious (after the preface grabbed me). But it grew on me - so much that even halfway through (if you had asked me) I would've told you that I didn't like the book. But I couldn't stop thinking about it - the characters and how everything would intersect. When they did...it was off to the races. The narrator was truly annoying to start with (and this is after Stephen King pulled some ace narrators recently) - but he grew on me too. So much so that this (along with 11-22-63, Odd Thomas, and The Lion's Game), will be bought in hard cover and put on the shelf to be read).

Give it time - all of the storylines come together - I promise it's worth it!

This book drags badly in several spots, and I just couldn't like the characters. As much as I wanted to...I couldn't. After the story got going, it was a fine listen. But I really didn't feel this was one of his better books.

I almost didn't get this book after the soapbox comic book scenarios his last book used. But I was pleasantly surprised that Grisham went back to telling an entertaining story. The characters were real, and the scenarios were plausible. I really enjoyed the book, and best of all he stays away from politics (pet peeve of mine, regardless if I agree or not).
