I have not yet completed this listen and I am not sure I am going to. The story is solid and the characters are well written. However, I find the narration to be so poor that I don't think I can finish. It seems like the narrator has no idea what he is reading. He emphasizes random words in every sentence like he has a formula for reading without any cognizance of what should be emphasized. I don't know how else to explain it. He sing-songs through every sentence with a strange cadence that is all over the map. Would recommended reading the book but not listening to it.
This book presents a beautifully textured world that will haunt you and delivers richly developed and deeply satisfying tale. To say it is an apocalyptic tale about vampires would be true but it would be such a disservice to this book. There are layers in this book that place it in a different category than some of the books that come to mind when those terms are used. In addition to the compelling story the narration is phenomenal. I believe that even if a person has never liked any sci-fi/apocalyptic/supernatural books, ever, they can still enjoy this very well written and well told tale.
Simply not what I was expecting. If romance is your thing it was well written and well read. The only problem I had with the reading is that its was set in a southern setting and clearly ment to pronouced with a southern accent and did not play well without.
