Since their mother's death, Tip and Teddy Doyle have been raised by their loving, possessive, and ambitious father. As the former mayor of Boston, Bernard Doyle wants to see his sons in politics, a dream the boys have never shared. But when an argument in a blinding New England snowstorm inadvertently causes an accident that involves a stranger and her child, all Bernard Doyle cares about is his ability to keep his children, all of his children, safe.

What made the experience of listening to Run the most enjoyable?

I needed to read this for a book discussion at work. I really didn't expect to like it, because it's not the kind of book I usually enjoy. However, it turned out to be one of the best books I've read in a long time. The characterizations are excellent, both in the writing and in the performance. The story is enjoyable and memorable. I've got plenty of ideas for our book discussion, and a book I'll enjoy listening to more than once.

What about Peter Francis James’s performance did you like?

Mr. James' voice characterizations were excellent. I was able to easily distinguish between characters.

The season of gift-giving is here, and this year we've got something special for our members: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Yuletide whodunit "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle". In this holiday-themed short story, Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr. Watson, follow the trail of a lost hat and a Christmas goose through the streets of London and into a rapidly expanding mystery.

What did you love best about The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle?

A classic Holmes story, and a classic reader. While I'm not a huge fan of Holmes, I've always enjoyed Alan Cummings' performances. He makes this one of the best readings I've heard in a long time. He distinguishes voices very clearly, and makes characters of different classes sound eerily accurate. The story, while not complex, is interesting. Really, though, it's the reading that makes it all worthwhile. If you can, get this edition.

Would you be willing to try another book from Arthur Conan Doyle? Why or why not?

I occasionally enjoy Doyle. He's not my favorite, but I don't dislike him, either.

Have you listened to any of Alan Cumming’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first audiobook I've heard form Cumming. I've enjoyed his performances as an actor, and find him to be an excellent reader. I look forward to hearing more books read by him.

The opening episode begins on Trantor, capital of the Galactic Empire, with the meeting of Seldon and Dornick, their trial, and their exile to Terminus. The action then jumps forward 50 years, to the first Seldon Crisis, where the repercussions of the recent independence of the Four Kingdoms of the Periphery are being felt on Terminus, and are handled by the first Mayor, Salvor Hardin....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I don't really like book dramatizations. Asimov's Foundation trilogy has been a favorite since childhood, but this version just didn't do it for me. Like other dramatizations, it's been seriously abridged. The music also didn't help. It was distracting and at times overwhelming.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

If it were a movie, I would very likely go see it. The visual cues in a movie would likely make it more understandable.

Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) rocks this mock bedtime story, capturing a hilarious range of emotions as the voice of a father struggling to get his child to sleep. Go the F**k to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland.

Probably because I don't have children. All my friends who do have children just loved it. So if you're a parent, go for it. You'll probably enjoy it.
