The story is fast paced, well written, and draws the reader in immediately. The characters are appealing and realistic. The narrator is great! Definitely a good listen.
The premise for the story is quite interesting. The narrator is exceptional. The over-the-top gush of teenage romance ....not so much...it was like listening to a Harlequin romance. Do teen girls really think like Kiera? But I persevered. It is not predictable. There are twists & surprises. It's well worth a listen. And since I'm looking forward to the sequel that comes out at the end of April... I guess I liked it!
Amber Benson shouldn't be allowed to read a telephone book much less a novel aloud. I selected her version versus the male narrator only because the audio sample seemed that quality of her voice would lend itself to more variety. Boy, was I wrong! Her tempo & pacing plodded; The voices of characters other than, "Chris", were simply atrocious. I grimaced through 2 hours of this novel only to decide that life is too short to listen to bad audio. I quit. I couldn't care less about the outcome of this story. She ruined it for me.
What a great story! Totally relatable. The narrators were outstanding - truly bringing the characters to life. Don't hesitate - this is an awesome listen!
I'm a Teacher Librarian who read this selection with my high school student book club. This story is an excellent vehicle to bring wonderful messages to young and old alike on how to live a good life. There is a lot of football action in the story which at first was off-putting but as I continued, I found that I learned a great deal about playing football from the players viewpoint. There were times I yelled at Mike, the main character because of his choices & being oblivious to the solution to his problems But as the story progressed, I could see things from his point of view. It's a truly unique approach - dealing with loss, the war in Afghanistan, the way people deal with grief - or don't deal with grief. Totally worth reading. I highly recommend it.
The writing was exceptional. The story while thought-provoking, was character driven. And the characters & dialogue were true. Contemporary topics are easy to relate to.
This is an excellent series. Greaney far surpasses Grisham, Baldalchi. This action-packed installment takes an unusual turn. Cort experiences a range of experiences and emotions when he attempts to shield a family from a warring Mexican drug lord. Twists & turns & action abounds! I like that it's not falling into formula fiction.
Absolutely - page turner deluxe.
I've listened to him read the prior 2 books in the series. He's excellent!
This story is incredibly clever. The humor delights & the characters entertain. This is my first ever encounter with Steampunk - a mashup of the Victorian era with advanced technology. I would highly recommend it to those with a good sense of humor.
The narrator was outstanding. Her performance added so much to the entertainment!
I can't sit that long! That's why I like audio - I took it with me everywhere I could!
I loved that Trice and Tobias were performed by 2 different readers. These two brought the story to life. Emma, of course, performed in Divergent & Insurgent. Aaron's performance was my first listen.
Great finale for the trilogy. Well written and thought provoking!
It's so realistic. Easy to identify with the characters - we've all been teenagers.
I enjoyed all the characters! Each of them shared a part of themselves... the humor throughout the story was delightful.
He differentiated each of the characters - made it easy to picture them.
The Zen feel of the moments of realization were delicious.
i highly recommend this book to all those 16 years of age & beyond.
George Guidall is possibly my least favorite narrator. His staccato cadence & poor breath control ruin this story. I am a huge fan of Silva's Gabriel Allon series - noting that some are better than others. I gave this novel 5 hours and finally could no longer tolerate this narrator's rendition of this story. Why on earth anyone would select Guidall to read anything other than the phonebook is a mystery to me. Phil Gigante is absolutely the best narrator of the Allon series. That said, the story itself was not terribly engaging... Silva might be falling into the 'formula fiction' rut.
