Boston's premier P.I. investigates the murder of a prominent local banker with family ties to the Mayflower - and perhaps the mob. It's hard not to imagine the victim's young bride as the one with her finger on the trigger. Even her lawyer thinks she's guilty. But Mary Smith is entitled to the best defense she can afford - and thanks to her late husband's millions, she can afford plenty - so Spenser hires on to investigate.

Parker as usual does a great job of keeping the story flowing. Montagna is my favorite reader of Parker's work. You will enjoy the inter-action of these characters.

Defense attorney Paul Madriani tackles the most challenging case of his career - the chilling murder of a friend on a crowded city street. Madriani is drawn into a vortex of crime that spans the Americas. Without realizing, he is suddenly riding the crest of a dangerous wave involving a family of wealthy international developers and people who murder for money.

Busy action through out the story. Well read by Mr Mantegna. Excellent choice.
