Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

When it comes to the holidays, no story brings us back to the true spirit of giving like O. Henry’s classic "The Gift of the Magi". So this year we’ve asked some of your favorite Audible narrators—Audie Award winners Katherine Kellgren, Oliver Wyman, and Jonathan Davis—to bring to life this timeless tale, plus two more of O. Henry’s gems: "The Cop and the Anthem" and "The Last Leaf", in this holiday collection.

Liked using both characters - gave a "boost" to the story.

Was Shiver worth the listening time?

    This is for teen girls.

    Any additional comments?

Once in awhile I like to listen to young people books to keep up with what is new in their genre.

Bailey Ruth Raeburn has always been great at solving mysteries. Why should a little thing like her death change anything? In fact, being dead gives her more of an opportunity to be on top of events. Bailey Ruth is delighted that her unique position as a ghost makes it possible for her to lend a helping hand, sometimes seen and sometimes not. And if anybody needs a little help, it's Kathleen, the pastor's wife. There's a dead man on her porch, and once the body is discovered, the pastor is sure to become a suspect.

John says: "A great new character!"
"The most stylish ghost you ever met."

What made the experience of listening to Ghost at Work the most enjoyable?

This is a fun read - enjoyed it. I listen to a lot of my recorded books while I'm walking - so I don't want anything too heavy or depressing.

What other book might you compare Ghost at Work to and why?

This is a fun "light" mystery - such as you find in the "Dog On It" stories of Chet and Bernie.

Which character – as performed by Ann Marie Lee – was your favorite?

The best character in the book is the main one - Bailey Ruth (the ghost who is not a ghost!). She is fun loving and very much into fashion.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Don't think this would translate to the screen.

    Any additional comments?

    An easy fun listen.

  • We Bought a Zoo: The Amazing True Story of a Young Family, a Broken Down Zoo, and the 200 Wild Animals That Change Their Lives Forever

Already a BBC documentary miniseries and excerpted in the Guardian, We Bought a Zoo is a profoundly moving portrait of an unforgettable family living in the most extraordinary circumstances. This touching memoir is set to be a major motion picture starring Scarlett Johansson and Matt Damon, in theaters December 23, 2011.

    Christie says: "Fabulous narrator."

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

A good story for listening while you're walking, etc. as there are no major plot twists or mysteries to have to keep up with. This is the real story - not the movie - and it takes place in England. I recommend this for a time when you just can't decide what you want - and you're not in the mood for more murder, mayhem, political intrigue.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Would have liked to get to know the characters more. More indepth on the children, interaction with the animals.

What about Gildart Jackson’s performance did you like?

    Narrators performance is great.

Do you think We Bought a Zoo needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I would read a follow-up book - if he puts a little more "beef" in it.

    Any additional comments?

I realize the author was giving us his real life "diary" of events and not making up sensational happenings.

What made the experience of listening to Dog on It the most enjoyable?

A quick, easy, fun read. The dog, Chet, tells the story & it's fun to see how he sees and interprets things.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chet is probably my favorite character - you wonder how on earth he will get out of some situations.

How could the performance have been better?

    No
