Abby Cooper is a P.I., psychic intuitive. But her insight failed her when she didn't foresee the death of one of her clients - or that the lead investigator for the case is the gorgeous blind date she just met. Now, with the police suspicious of her abilities and a killer on the loose, Abby's future looks more uncertain than ever.

    Overall

Audible was having another one of their $4.95 sales and they have managed to rope me into another series with the Abby Cooper books! I really enjoyed this book right from the beginning. I won't say that it wasn't a tab bit predictable, but honestly, don't all these types of books have the same basic formula? I mean look at the Stephanie Plum/Evanovich series, it's somewhat predictable, but we still love it because it's full of laughs, mystery and a dash of romance. If you enjoy those kinds of books then you should definitely try Abby Cooper. She's a great little quirky heroine that will steal your heart and leave you rooting for her!

What did you love best about Trouble in High Heels?

Really enjoyed this book. This was a new author to me that I tried during a sale, and I'm glad I did! The story was solid with a few LOL's, but the mystery kept me guessing almost until the very end. If you like Janet Evanovich type chic lit, you will enjoy this book!

What other book might you compare Trouble in High Heels to and why?

Janet Evanovich books...fun mystery with a little romance blended in

Paradise, Massachusetts, is preparing for the summer tourist season when a string of car thefts disturbs what is usually a quiet time in town. In a sudden escalation of violence, the thefts become murder, and chief of police Jesse Stone finds himself facing one of the toughest cases of his career. Pressure from the town politicians only increases when another crime wave puts residents on edge. Jesse confronts a personal dilemma as well: a burgeoning relationship with a young PR executive, whose plans to turn Paradise into a summertime concert destination may have her running afoul of the law.

Malcolm Pembroke never expected to make a million pounds without making enemies. Nor did he expect his latest wife to be brutally murdered. All the clues suggest the killer comes from close to home, but after five marriages and nine children, that still leaves the field wide open. When he find his own life in danger, Pembroke entrusts his safety to his estranged son, Ian, an amateur jockey; and through him discovers a compulsive new outlet for his financial expertise.

    "Great Characters!"
    Overall

I love Dick Francis because all his books have the same elements (mystery, horse racing, and great characters) but all the books are different, so he doesn't have to keep re-inventing the wheel each time. This book was really enjoyable, and the mystery kept me guessing until the end, which is good for a mystery. It kinda stinks when the author reveals too much and you go through the book thinking, "Really? How did they not get that?!" This book held my attention and kept me sitting in the driveway a couple times because I couldn't tear myself away!

Spenser earned his degree in the school of hard knocks, so he is ready when a Boston university hires him to recover a rare, stolen manuscript. He is hardly surprised that his only clue is a radical student with four bullets in his chest. The cops are ready to throw the book at the pretty blond coed whose prints are all over the murder weapon but Spenser knows there are no easy answers. He tackles some very heavy homework and knows that if he doesn't finish his assignment soon, he could end up dead.

William says: "Good start to a great series!"
"Not a bad start to a series"
    Overall

I'm a big fan of Parker's "Jesse Stone" series, but I'd never listened to any of the Spenser books, so when I saw this one in the $4.95 sale I decided to give it a try. It was ok, I didn't struggle through it or anything, but it was a very basic detective story. I didn't like the reader, and it took me awhile to get used to him, but I eventually did. Can't really recommend this book, as I didn't like it that much, but I can't really knock it either as it was an ok listen. If you like basic detective stories, or you want to start the Spenser books from the beginning then this book isn't too bad a choice.

This is by far one of the best paranormal series going!!! I'm amazed that HBO hasn't picked it up to go along with the True Blood fans. It's that good! Only sad part is that I now have to wait a whole year for the next installment :(

Meg Cabot is the New York Times best-selling author of The Princess Diaries series. Susannah Simon is a teenager who can see ghosts. As a bridge between the living and the dead, she gets called on to help ghosts take care of unfinished business. After she and her mother move from New York City to sunny California, Suze meets the sexiest boy she's ever seen, too bad he's a ghost, too.

"Young adult? Only because it's not dirty"
    Overall

I gave this book a try because I like the paranormal genre, and honestly, because it was on sale for $4.95. I will give new authors a try for that price, and this book was a very good choice. The main characters were teenagers, but the writing was in no way juvenile. The book followed the paranormal romance/mystery genre pretty closely with the only difference being that it wasn't dirty. I guess that's what made it young adult, but it in no way effected the storyline. I really enjoyed it, and will probably try another book in this series.

Amazing news has spread across the Scottish countryside. The most famous of highland bachelors, police sergeant Hamish Macbeth, may actually marry at last. The entire village of Lochdubh adores Macbeth's bride-to-be. Josie McSween is Hamish's new constable, and she is a pretty little thing, with glossy brown hair and big brown eyes. The local folk think that Josie is quite a catch, but Hamish couldn't be more miserable.

    Overall

I'm a big fan of the Hamish Macbeth series, and this installment didn't let me down. Like the other books in this series, the mystery is solid, the characters are colorful and there are a few laughs to round things out. I flew through the book, so that's usually an indicator to me that it was a pretty good book. I'd definitely say to give it a try!

Cal Morrisey knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs. I purchased this book during one of the $4.95 sales, and to be honest, I didn't have really high expectations. Well, was I ever surprised. I ended up loving this book; it was great. I mean, lets be honest, the formula is not unique but the characters are rich and full and you really start caring about them. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys chick lit. It won't disappoint.

I'm a huge fan of this series, but somehow I managed to miss this first book. Audible had one of their "1st in a series" sale, so I had to get this one, and I was not disappointed. Even if you've read/listened to other books in the series, I would still suggest this one because although you know where the characters end up, it's really great seeing how they get there!

Succubus (n.) An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men. Pathetic (adj.) A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid. When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical? But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic.

Audible had one of their $4.95 sales, and now I'm roped into another series, because I really enjoyed this audiobook. I'm a fan of the paranormal genre, and I like my mystery sprinkled with a little romance/romantic possibility, so this was right up my alley. I got involved with the story right away, and enjoyed it all the way thru. I would definitely recommend this book, and I'll be trying the next book in the series.
