I've enjoyed this book for YEARS and was excited to see it was on Audible unabridged. The story is still fabulous and the narrator does a really nice job as well. Totally enjoyable.
I have all the Mercy Thompson books on Audible and almost enjoy listening to them more than reading them. One of my favorite authors. Great start to the series.
The story is wonderful and heartwarming and is written in Rachel Gibson's usual style of humor and the reader/listener identifying with the character. Susan Bennett really brings the characters to life.
She adds life to the characters, gives them a "tangible" presence. Really good readers bring added dimension to the characters. Awesome.
I love this old story. I've been revisiting Linda Howard's old books and trying to get them on Audible. I've always enjoyed this story, but for some reason, I couldn't get "into" it as much as her others. I think it was the narrator, but I can't quite put my finger on it. She was fine, the book was enjoyable and I'll listen to it again no question. But I didn't race to finish it, I switched to another book in the middle and that rarely happens for me. Sorry I can't be more exact - it just wasn't the "fit" I was hoping for.
I love this story. Nalini Singh has created a wonderful cast of characters in an original storyline. However, I can't listen to it because the narrator's voice takes me out of the story. Her emphasis on certain words and the nasal quality of the tone keeps me from even being able to finish listening. I should have listened to the sample before I ever purchased. This may not matter to you, in which case, the storyline is well-worth it!
