I was disappointed in the narration of this book. i couldn't get through the first two hours before I had to just stop listening. The narrator almost sounds annoyed while he is reading some of the sentences or like he's just reading lines from a teleprompter. Hard to describe but just couldn't get passed it.
This is by far one of the best if not the best DeMille books to date! John Sutter is laugh out loud funny. Great dialogue. Great story. The narrator is aweseome! Best listen I've ever had from audible!!
Tortureous is the only way I can describe listening to this book. The narrator is, by far, the worst I have ever heard in an audiobook. While the story has an interesting premise, I could care less about the characters, especially the main character. I am a big Nelson DeMille fan but this one leaves me longing for John Corey and Scott Brick!!
I have just about every Robert Ludlum book you can buy. I normally love the Covert One series, even with other writers. However, between the ridiculous plot line to the horrible reading by Scott Brick, I can't even bear to finish this one. I know others have said they like the narrator but he is absolutely awful. It sounds like he should be reading a "How to" manual or selling me a used car. Bad, bad, bad....don't waste your money.
Absolutely, hands down, the best book I've listened to. I couldn't stop listening. The unbelievable description of Everest and the account of the 1996 disaster at times made me feel like I was there. Mr. Krakauer writes in a way that makes you think about the book for hours after listening to it. I would highly recommend this book to anybody -- even if you don't have any interest in climbing! It's so much more than a climbing book. It's the tale of unbelievable human endurance, will and drive.
