George Orr's dreams do change the world. He is the only one who knows it...he and the power-mad psychiatrist who is forcing George to dream a new reality - a better reality that is free from war, disease, overpopulation, and all human misery. But for every man-made dream of utopia, there is a terrifying, unforeseeable consequence...

I read this many years ago. It is a good story and it is well worth listening to. Ursula Le Guin's first Sci-fi novels were superior works and they still are.

This first volume of the Earthsea Cycle is an adventure story, a Quest, a tale of a proud, incautious boy who meddles too early with the Dark. It is a pure fantasy telling about a real thing: a boy coming into his power and his manhood...coming of age.

    Wyonia says: "Great Book...Frantic Narrator"
    "A Great Classic"
    Overall

The Wizard of Earthsea is one of the great Fantasy Classics. I was unsure if I should listen to the book, since I have read the trilogy at least 2 dozen times. I was just as entertained by the audio version. Actually the long descriptive passages evoked more pictures from my imagination than it did during the reading of them. The three books in the trilogy are a must listen for Young and Old fantasy fans alike.
