Lori Foster’s steamy romances have earned her a place on the New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists. Trace of Fever stars Trace Rivers, a private mercenary looking for vengeance after his sister’s kidnapping. Trace has targeted human trafficker Murray Coburn as the man responsible, but his plans for payback get complicated when Coburn’s beautiful daughter turns up.

Don't waste your time, money or credits. Nothing in this book worked for me, well that's not true. Had it not been for Jim Frangione I doubt I could have made it through this train wreck.

Eric Drake, a powerful Dark Wolf, has never trusted himself around human females - preferring to mate only within his pack. That is, until he encounters Chelsea Smart snooping around Silvercrest pack land in search of her missing sister. Secretly, Chelsea thinks Eric is the sexiest man she's ever seen, though she is wary of his potent Alpha energy. Then it's discovered that Chelsea's sister is being held by a pack of vicious Lycans, and Eric heroically leaps into action.

What would have made Dark Wolf Rising better?

A better heroine to start. Chelsea's behavior had me rolling my eyes constantly and by 2/3 of the way through the book, I really wanted to turn it off. She's selfish and so self involved that when she finally comes to her senses I really didn't care anymore. There were also several inconsistencies within the story line that made me wonder if the other books in this series were similar. This is book four by the way.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not another book by Rhyannon Byrd. Don't waste your money or your credits.

How could the performance have been better?

Since I found the heroine irritating and the book difficult to finish, the performance by Clarissa Knightly also fell flat for me. I don't know if it was the book itself and there was nothing Ms Knightly could have done to make it better or if she just couldn't make the characters more compelling.

What character would you cut from Dark Wolf Rising?

I'd start over completely. It wasn't the worst book I have ever listened to but I have to say it ranks up there with ones I will never listen to again.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Tricks and how she behaves like a early twenty something college girl and not a 200+ year old Fae who has lived and worked in New York as a spokesperson for the King of the Wyr. She's smart and articulate but then acts as I mentioned above. I found myself rolling my eyes with irritation. I still have 2 hours to go and am wondering if I will ever get through it.

What could Thea Harrison have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The pig tails and "Sowwy" thing was ridiculous. Seriously, she's supposed to be over 200 years old.

Have you listened to any of Sophie Eastlake’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to Dragon Bound, the first book in this series and enjoyed Ms Eastlake's performance. I couldn't wait to start this one and she gives another excellent performance here, I just can't seem to enjoy the overall story.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I enjoyed Tiago and his alpha tendencies (who wouldn't) but how he found this silly ball of fluff attractive that was Tricks from time to time I don't understand. Pia was perfect for Dragos and the byplay between those two was priceless. Tricks just didn't come across as strong or as interesting. You would think that after years (and years) in the public eye she would have developed a thicker skin and not want everyone to like her.

    Any additional comments?

I am wondering if I will return this book and maybe try the next book in the series. There is still 2 hours to go....painfully.

Would you try another book from Christine Feehan and/or Abby Craden?

Christine Feehan's book are usually entertaining and I think I liked the first edition of this audio book better, though not by much. Abby Craden made Raven seem even more ridiculous than she already was. I really tried to like this book but it was so incredibly long and needlessly drawn out.

What could Christine Feehan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Phil Gigante comes to mind as a narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Abby Craden’s performances?

    No.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dark Prince?

I would have made Raven less of a silly twit.

    Any additional comments?

Don't waste your credits. I'm glad I bought it on sale. I would have returned it otherwise.
