Bahzell is no knight in shining armor, and besides he has too many problems of his own to be messing with anybody else's problems - let alone the War God's. Unfortunately, the War God has other ideas for him.

I enjoy the Gentleman Bastard series and am a fan of Scott Lynch. I love to listen to Michael Page. I started and stopped with this one many times and finally just powered through, wishing it would end. This particular book is probably best enjoyed in book form so that you can skip over the dreary parts. I will buy the next book and reread the first two.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

I loved it. Great to revisit old characters. Very good story line -just a whiff of predictability but enough plot twists to make it well worth the credit. Loved the narration.

The only thing preventing utter annihilation is Edmund - a stuttering librarian who knows a secret, a secret that every thief, assassin, and king would kill to have. Love the characters. Had to rename my cats, Filth, Pond Scum, Crazy Bastard and Turd. The narration is excellent as well. The story put me in mind of the audible versions of Joe Abercrombie's work. I am looking forward to the second book.

On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a woman lies dead at the bottom of a brownstone’s basement steps, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better. A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the brownstone, she knows Marta’s murder is the work of a killer who’s trained, yet not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

The Imperial Merchant Ship Chathrand is the last of her kind. Six hundred years old, the secrets of her construction long forgotten, the massive vessel dwarfs every other sailing craft in the world. It is a palace with sails, a floating outpost of the Empire of Arqual. And it is on its most vital mission yet: to deliver a young woman whose marriage will seal the peace between Arqual and its mortal enemy, the secretive Mzithrin Empire.

    Michael Page. Love him.
This story is more about a group of people telling a story about a story than it is anything else. I was never pulled in. I was unable to suspend reality and flow with the tale. It was like watching something instead of doing something.
If I listen to the other stories, it will be to hear Michael Page, not because I care about the story or characters.

Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.
