"Another great one ...."
It seems lately that I just couldn't find an audiobook that grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Everything seemed "all the same". I was beginning to get quite frustrated. I decided to go back into my library and maybe listen to one of the hundreds of audios I've downloaded in the past 2 years. I came upon one my my favorite authors, Jeffrey Archer, so I clicked his name and it brought me to his list of books, most of which I've listened to. So glad I did! He once again, didnt fail to give me something I could sink my teeth into. It was COMPLETELY enjoyable to listen to. Somewhere right between "cant press stop" and "wow, what a great story......looking forward to the next chapter". Archer's tale is one of two men, born at the same time (early1920's) but worlds apart physically, emotionally, and financially. Yet, their differences were only one facet of this great story. The struggles they both experienced in life to reach their goals had one common thread. They both had grit and integrity. Their experiences somewhat mirrored each other yet so differently that it made for an extraordinary story line. So well written and so easy to listen to, yet, not one that puts you to sleep. The author did a fabulous job of entwining these men's lives in and out throughout the story, it gave it that "Oh my gosh......how ironic" feeling. Often it was like I was above, peeking down on them and watching their lives unfold. Please do yourself a favor and make time for this one. I expect you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
"Beautiful Ruins....Beautiful Book"
Fabulous narration, fabulous story. Very enjoyable. Ballerini's narration made you see the story play out, not hear it like it was being read to you. Jess Walter hit a home run with this one. You wont regret listening to this audiobook.
"Scott Brick...UGH!!"
Good story, not great but good. Got painfully thru 3/4 of it and just simply had to stop. Not because of the story but Scott Brick's narration. EVRYTHING is sooooo dramatic with that mans voice! It just ruins great books and I dont understand why he narrates so many. He can make something as simple as the dog in this story licking his paw sound like the end is near! If YOU like him, then get the book because the storyline and plot are worth a credit.
"awesome !!!!!!!!!"
Absolutely fantastic book! No doubt about it, its in my top 5, maybe even 3 of hundreds......Just get it. You WONT be sorry. If you enjoy family epic dramas with an author who isnt afraid to do to his characters what most others wont, please get this book! I just downloaded another of his books and cannot wait to start tonight. Drama, love, hate, friendship, marraige, humor, brotherhood, family relations, culture, history, and on and on it goes. What more can I say????
"I need more positive adjectives!"

....................(did I mention "good") ?
"another one ruined"
"why", I say to myself, "do they spend all that time, money and energy writing a book and then produce it in audio format just to DESTROY it by the narrator"? And it was the author himself! You'd think since he wrote the darn thing he'd put extra life into it! UGH! Didn't they LISTEN to it before they tossed it out to the public? What a shame it is. This could've been a great audiobook but truely, after trying very hard to listen, I just couldn't. I had to press stop and shake my head in disgust. I just dont get it.......
"zzzzzzzzzz.............snore"
Well ok, so I've previously listened to Connelly's books before and enjoyed them but C'mon Michael! If there was one more side-bar in the court with the judge.....UGH! The story would've been much better if he moved it along quicker. No reason to go through......every.......single.......movement, objection!, and thought that both the lawyers and defendent made over the course of what? 55 chapters? If you like courtroom drama with a lot of detail, go for it. Otherwise , pass
