I can't finish this book. I'm turning it off half way through. Perhaps there was character development in past books...but I find none here. The names are all french - difficult to distinguish with my simple English-only speaking experience. I Wish I hadn't wasted a credit on this one.
This has been my favorite of all of Diana Gabaldon's books. I laughed, I cried....I couldn't get enough. Beautifully written.
Beautifully written - poetic, poignant and powerful. I almost gave up after the first few chapters but I'm glad I stuck it out. This book delivers amazing visuals and leaves the reader thinking about one's own relationships through life's journeys.
I couldn't wait for this book to come out after reading the first two in this series. This book left me rather disappointed. At one point I stopped listening because it just seemed "more of the same". The plot was disjointed, the characters had much less depth and the action scenes were just a bit over the top (and very video gamish).
The author seemed to just want this series finished....too bad because I think it had the potential for much better things.
I thought I'd do better than going to the movie by listening to the book. The build up at the beginning left me very disappointed. Ho....Hum.......
By the time I was 1/3 of the way through this one I was ready to fastforward through the action scenes. The underlying theme was great but it seemed the author needed to "fill in" with one-two punches to make a book out of it.
A bit fantastical how it all fits together...EVERY last piece in the end.
