"Sandra Brown at her Best!!"
This is an excellent murder mystery with a robust romance and a rich cast of characters. I constantly found myself changing who I thought had committed the homicide and in the end, I was still wrong. Renée Raudman never fails to amaze me with the diversity of her narration which allows you to forget that you aren't listening to several people. Her range provides deep believable voices for men and feminine voices for women. I didn't want it to end.
"Love conquers all!!"
I really enjoyed this endearing love story between Lord Rafe Eason and Evelyn Chambers. With the death of her beloved father, Evelyn’s merciless and debt-ridden half-brother hosts a party to sell her to the highest bidder among the gentry. The naïve Evelyn mistakenly assumes the gentlemen have assembled to offer for her hand in marriage. In spite of his normal indifference, the handsome and wealthy Lord Rafe Eason is immediately attracted to the naïve beauty and wins her as his mistress. When she is delivered to his estate and learns her fate, the agonized Evelyn flees to her home and is inconsolable when she is not allowed entry. A ruthless businessman, Lord Eason’s typically unshakable veneer begins to crack when he follows Evelyn, finds her crumpled at her half-brother’s doorstep, and gently returns her to his mansion. The story is well written and engaging as Evelyn seeks to understand the contradictions between Rafe’s protective patience with her and his bitterness toward his family. The love story evolved very believably and naturally.
I have not read the first books in the Lost Lords of Pembroke series and definitely plan to download Lord of Temptation next. However, this book stands alone and is easy to follow without having read the earlier entries.
Lorraine Heath is an extraordinary writer and Faye Adele is an exceptional narrator.
"A Romantic Mystery!!"
Coulter does a great job of weaving mystery and romance into a story with a great plot and interesting characters that you love and detest.
I really enjoyed this story that begins with a terrible betrayal of trust and leads to violence, intrigue, romance, and vindication. Teenager Lindsay Foxe has every reason to give up after horrific treatment by her brother-in-law and receiving no support from her society family. Yet, she finds the will to become a successful young lady. The story leaves the reader wondering who continues to attack Lindsay as an adult and why they will not leave her alone. Detective Taylor provides Lindsay with the support and love that she never received from her family. Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo provide excellent performances for each of the characters.
"Romance! Mystery! Espionage!"
This is a haunting story of clairvoyance, romance, and espionage. After inheriting her grandmother’s Louisiana estate, Laurel Scanlon is anxious to leave her distant father’s Washington, DC residence to begin a new life in Cajun country. Laurel not only inherited her grandmother’s property, but also her gift of extrasensory visions. Unlike her mocking father, Laurel is welcomed by the residents of Bayou Jean, Louisiana who are grateful that the granddaughter of Marcella Campion will continue the tradition of psychic protection. In this new location, Laurel’s gifts of sight are heightened as she immediately saves a baby’s life and finally meets the sensuous man who has passionately inhabited her dreams. This edge of your seat thriller is heightened when Laurel becomes the target of danger while she desperately tries to use her powers to save the life of one closest to her.
I have read several of Sharon Sala’s (Dinah McCall) books and enjoy them tremendously. She knows how to integrate mystery and romance with believable characters.
Therese’s Plummer’s narration never disappoints as she moves seamlessly from character to character and makes you believe you are right there. Plummer, Dick Hill, and the late Anna Fields are three of the best narrators in the business.
Excellent audiobook!
"AN ADVENTUROUS ROMANCE!!"
I would compare Temptation to "Tamed by a Highlander" and "Ravished by a Highlander" because of the Scottish setting and superb narration. Jude Deveraux's story is excellent and Carrington MacDuffie does an amazing job conveying male and female voices in Scottish and American accents.
While several scenes were compelling, I was "hooked" when Temperance arrived at the rural Scottish estate dripping wet and James refused to let her in. Without giving away the ending, I also enjoyed the last scene that took place in New York.
I purchased this book because of the author and narrator – two of my favorites. I was NOT disappointed because it contains everything: an epic romance, intriguing mystery, villains, heroes, heroines, and a lavish setting. The beautiful and headstrong Temperance O’Neil appears to have been born at the wrong time, as she finds it difficult to be taken seriously as a New York career woman. Forced to accompany her mother and new stepfather to Scotland, Temperance is required to become the housekeeper and secret matchmaker for her stepfather’s handsome but resistant nephew, James. Though many have tried before her, Temperance is determined to find James a wife because her stepfather has promised to release her trust fund and allow her to return to New York if she succeeds.
"Excellent and well paced romance and mystery"
I hesitated to purchase this book because the previous review was lukewarm. However, I love Catherine Anderson’s style and have enjoyed the Comanche series. I am really glad I went with my gut because I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the third in the Comanche series. Catherine Anderson has a slow and deliberate style which may be frustrating to readers who want things to happen quickly. However, I find it refreshing and more realistic as the characters unfold and develop at a natural and more believable pace.
It is the story of Indigo, the only daughter of Hunter of the Wolf and his Anglo wife, Loretta (both introduced in Comanche Moon). Indigo is a nineteen-year-old beauty who enjoys living with her parents, working in her father’s mine, and “talking” with her animals. Without revealing his true identify or his great wealth, Jake Rand comes to town to investigate a series of dangerous accidents that have occurred at the mine, one of which injured Indigo’s father, Hunter. The story unfolds into a romance pursued by Jake and resisted by Indigo. Interwoven is a suspenseful mystery, as Jake gets dangerously closer to discovering who is behind the mind explosions.
"Adventurous Romance"
I thoroughly enjoyed this robust adventure and exciting romance; thought the narrator did a wonderful job with the accents. I will purchase more books from this author and narrator,
"We need more from this author!"
Audible, please add more books from Meryl Sawyer.
This book has a good plot, great mystery, and wonderful romance read by an excellent narrator.
"Great Romance!"
This is a well-written and sensuous romance. How entertaining to hear Linda Lael Miller's words come to life through Jack Garrett's perfect naration.
"GREAT WHO DUNNIT & ROMANCE"
This is a wonderful murder mystery with an intriguing plot, well developed characters, and perfect narration. After the privileged senator is murdered, his kinky secret life emerges, adding a host of characters to the list of suspects. The intense romance between Samantha (the chief investigator) and Nick (the late senator's chief of staff) appropriately evolves within the plot.
I'm disappointed that this is the only book from Marie Force. Please, Audible, add more of her books.
