A medical miracle gave TV personality Cat Delaney more than a new heart. It gave her a second chance at life. After leaving Hollywood to host a San Antonio TV show spotlighting children with special needs, Cat fights to gain respect as a newscaster. She meets Alex Pierce, an ex-cop turned crime writer, who regards her as a woman, not as a heart patient. When fatal “accidents” begin killing the other heart recipients, Alex may – or may not – be her most important ally.

Many books you can figure out the killer in the very beginning but this book had many twist and turns that were very unexpected. Loved it.

When he was 19, James Stark was considered to be one of the greatest natural magicians, a reputation that got him demon-snatched and sent downtown - to Hell - where he survived as a gladiator, a sideshow freak entertaining Satan's fallen angels. That was 11 years ago. Now, the hitman who goes only by Stark has escaped and is back in L.A. Armed with a fortune-telling coin, a black bone knife, and an infernal key, Stark is determined to destroy the magic circle.

Would you try another book from Richard Kadrey and/or MacLeod Andrews?

I listened to over half of it and could not wait to be done. I then decided why am I listening to this? I listened for 4 hours and all I got out it is a guy that does not die returns from hell to get revenge on the people that sent him there. HMMM. This book was scored high maybe by other devils.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Not anything from this author.

Would you be willing to try another one of MacLeod Andrews’s performances?

    no

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Sandman Slim?

    The whole thing

    Any additional comments?

    Bad bad book.

The New York Times called Sir Edward Feathers one of the most memorable characters in modern literature. A lyrical novel that recalls his fully lived life, Old Filth has been acclaimed as Jane Gardam's masterpiece. And now that novel has been joined by a companion that also bursts with humor and wisdom: The Man in the Wooden Hat. As a portrait of a marriage, with all the bittersweet secrets and surprising fulfillment of the 50-year union of two remarkable people, this novel is a triumph.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I acutually read the bood twice because it was hard to follow. It was a short book so I could take the time and read it again and I did catch a lot more but still not one of my favorite books.

What could Jane Gardam have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I am not sure. I think some of the accents was hard to follow.

This is a very long book. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen then it finally came several hours later and then it ended. I went what?
