WOW! I am (almost) speechless! This has got to be my FAVorite read in the last year!! Tim Keller is the strong bridge between the dichotomy of super intelligent (head) and super lover (heart)! Listening to him read his own words made it so personal - I felt as though we were having a deep and meaningful conversation over coffee in a comfortable cafe somewhere in the city. Again, I say, "WOW!" - ANY person, regardless of creed or religion would benefit from diving into the "deep-end" with this very thoughtful, very intelligent man! Thank you, Mr. Keller - you are well-read, respectful, and incredibly gracious!! And thank you, Audible, for making this so accessible! It is one I will listen to over and over again - and suggest to ALL my friends!

It's actually difficult to find words that adequately explain the excellence of this book on audio. Stockett is amazing, and I am quite sure the book itself is riveting in all its honesty, sensitivity, and authenticity of life as it was in the south at a pivotal time in our nation's history. I will say, however, that, having never lived in the south myself, I cannot imagine getting out of it all that was intended without hearing this spectacular audio presentation. The narrators were PHENOMENAL - ALL of them!!!!! And it communicated to me the very soul of this exquisite work. I hemmed and hawed for a few weeks before I bought and dove into it myself - do NOT wait as I did!! If you have a soul to dip into, you will NOT be disappointed. I have listened to probably about 200 audio books by now, and I can honestly say, this has been one of the very BEST! Well done, audio - this deserves a TOP prize!

Many reviews have complained that this book is slow. I think it just depends on the reader's preferences. If you are the type of person that enjoys historical fiction, picturesque landscapes, and deep character development, then I'm confident you will love this book. Robert Ian MacKenzie does a phenomenal job of bringing these Scottish immigrants to life in beautiful dialect. The story flows well, and the characters are brought to life in an endearing way. I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable and was not disappointed in the least - was actually sorry it ended. If, however, you like a fast-paced thriller, perhaps this is not the book for you. If you have any personal connection to Montana, the early pioneering days in the Northwest, or the plight of Scottish immigrants, you will find the book fascinating. I highly recommend it!

If somemone would have told me, I wouldn't have believed it. Is Eoin Colfer capable of writing a so-so book? Unfortunately, YES! I am an avid Colfer fan - and he hasn't lost me as a loyal! But, if I had to be truly honest, The Atlantis Complex left me wanting. Did anyone else get the feeling that around 2/3 of the book, an important person popped his or her head into Colfer's office and said, "Times up!" - That's what it felt like. The book took so, so long to get going ... and then after a few minor scrapes and escapes, the villain is unseen (but for sure?) and the book is ending. It was very unlike the Artemis Fowls before that have gripped me until the last page. I will say that I did like Artemis' alter-ego, and the dialogue between he and Foaly were absolutely hilarious! It was great to have more of Foaly's character mixed into the chemistry, but that's about all I can say. Nathaniel Parker does an excellent job as always, and I am THRILLED that Audible has finally learned their lesson on that one (NO one else will do for Artemis!) - but I am really hoping Colfer is back in his office, with the door locked this time, so no one can interrupt his spectacularly creative mind!!!

It's difficult to know how to express in words what Manning's works stir in my soul. He has been a kindred spirit to me for over 20 years, and this work is a happy addition to the long line of writings from him that I hold dear to my heart.
Patched Together is the kind of work I would venture to say every person in this big, diverse world of ours would identify with in some way or another. I've made a challenge to all my friends: download the book, go away somewhere (preferably a natural, aesthetically pleasing place), turn off your cell phones and any other electronic device that would hinder or distract (save your iPOD, obviously), close your eyes, and drift into the world of Willy Juan for 2 hours and 13 minutes. I am willing to bet that anyone who picks up that challenge will be moved in the depths of the soul somehow. I loved the book; I loved the narration. Excellent piece of work that will most likely be a permanent fixture on my iPOD so that I can enjoy it anytime of the day or night. Simply Breathtaking!

Angie Sage's second installment was still entertaining, albeit a bit more predictable while the characters were rather more irritating than enchanting, as in the first. But, I can't help wonder if it was the narration that changed things for me. Allan Corunder did such a phenomenal job in the first book. His voices were so riveting, entertaining, enchanting - it was hard for any of us to put the book down. This second narrator was okay - and that was it - just okay. I almost felt as if I needed to reacquaint myself with some of the characters, who seemed totally different than in the first book (example, Marcia was so solid and funny and quirky with her fascinating purple shoes in the first book; in the second, she seemed inept and downright irritating at times - and that to me really stemmed from the narration, not the writing). I miss Mr. Corunder's hilarious interpretations, and I wish I could hear him narrate for all the books. As it is, I'm not sure I'll go on with the series. There certainly isn't a delicious anticipation to get to the next in the series as there was in the first. - A bit of a letdown.

I must confess, I haven't experienced anything by McCall Smith yet - I know, I know - the detective agency books are supposed to be great, so my mom tells me. But, the idea of daily life in Edinburgh appealed to me more, so I started with this, not knowing what to expect. The narrator is just great - really stays in the Scottish accent and even gives each of the characters a bit of a twist. I loved that. The book itself might be considered slow to some - and so it is. Yet, as it slowly unfolds, one develops a deep investment the characters, which is why this book was so surprisingly addicting for me. When it ended, I just stopped everything I did and went to download the next installment! I can't wait to start the next! Just a really, really great book - what my mom would affectionately define as "brain candy." It's true!

I am SO GLAD I bought this book and experienced it through audio! I love the movie and so almost didn't bother, thinking I'd experienced it adequately - was I wrong! The book is SO much clearer and livelier!! And the narrator is absolutely stunning! Her voices and accents are amazing - she pegs the Northern British accent versus the Southern just perfectly as well as the working class versus the educated class at that time in Great Britain. Truly, her reading captivated me! I was lost in it and really felt sad when it was over!! If you're contemplating buying, contemplate no longer! It is worth every penny and so, so much more! Enjoy!

This read was simply delightful!! The story is fantastic and reminds me of all the good reasons for being a kid!!! Allan Corduner is phenomenal!!! My kids and I have an ongoing contest of who can best be the voice of Marcia - "Oh ... my purple python shoes!" We thoroughly enjoyed this audible and recommend it to kids and adults alike who enjoy stepping into magical lands and letting the narrator whisk them away to adventure! My only sadness is that Audible didn't use Mr. Corduner for the sequels - which we have been hesitant to buy for that reason. Why do you do that??? In spite of this, the book was fantastic, and we will most likely give the others a chance as well.

This was an amazing reading of a timeless classic!! I was skeptical of Colleen Dewhurst doing the reading, as I associate her so much with Anne of Green Gables - but, because of the other great reviews, I gave her a chance and am so glad I did! There is something about hearing her read these beautiful words that made it really come to life. No regrets here! I loved it!
