"Mission: Impossible, Star Wars style"
The Mission: Impossible/caper movie feel of the book.
It's pretty much the level of quality I came to expect from Allston.
Voort's The reminiscing scene from the Yuuzhan Vong War.
To read more Star Wars!
No.
"Surprisingly good early novel from Scott Card"
The simplicity of the journey mingled with the complexity of the plot.
I think I started to appreciate Orson Scott Card's work more.
You see that's a journey of self-discovery and yet the growth of the character has so much weight.
Nothing wrong.
This book was too short!
"Great hard-core sic-fi!"
This is a very compelling, intriguing story about people who seem very real. Also, Star Trek influence, although small, gave it a little more pzaz.
It's hard to name one character as the most interesting. They are all very well fleshed-out and interesting.
I thing there's very little Alastair Reynolds could have done to get this novel even better. It's as good as it gets!
No, no, no! This is the kind of novel, separated into book (internal books) that you need to pause for a bit and digest what you've just read.
It was very pleasing to find such a competent hardcore SF writer.
"I didn't love it, but I liked it"
I'd recommend it to my wife. She's an engineer and the engineers are the clear "heroes" of this book.
I'd make the main characters a little less human — meaning less flawed, less self-centered.
Eli Glinn and his team.
Yes.
Don't read it expecting Michael Crichton — it's in the same ball park, but this book's authors stand on their own feet.
