Yes, Great Characters! Great story line! Set in Denmark which is new. Can you remember the last time Denmark was mentioned in a novel or movie......
Creepy Twisted plot, really just a great book you need to jump into and enjoy
at times yes, what it did a great job at is keeping you in flux on who was going to get caught.
Almost did. Listened with my wife on a road trip. we actually drove past our hotel so we could listen a bit longer. Yup, we're dorks like that.
The twists on the expected twists! you think you outsmarted the story when all of a sudden " Crap! I did not see that coming"
How is this question any different from the one you just asked????????
He did a good job. I will shamefully admit that he probably pronounced names and places better than I would have done....
We didn't straighten Tom Hanks' hair for this one!! He looks normal
Great Read. The time will fly by and you will be done with the book before you know it.
No, and the reason why is the narrator. I have no idea what people from Denmark sound like. I assume they sound similar to those from the rest of Scandinavia and am fully capable of inventing some accent that sounds appropriate in my head while I read. With a Narrator this is not possible. You are subjected to the brilliance of the person who selected a narrator with a wretched British accent to read a Danish novel..... Why??? It makes as much sense as hiring a veterinarian to fix the brakes on your car......
The background humor that goes on amidst such a dark mystery is great. You are intrigued, amused, entertained and disgusted all at the same time.
His performance is not bad it is just misplaced. He should be reading Dickens not Adler-Olsen
It is full of ups and downs. If you enjoyed the first one you will love this one as well
You can get through the narration....it's bearable, ok, all but the Whores voice is bearable. the story is great you will be thoroughly entertained.
No, but i am not the type to read a book I can remember previously reading.
This book is worthy of praise. It gives you a story that closely resembles current events with a protagonist devoid of any political correctness doing and saying what most people wish they could. it is not the longest novel but well paced and thrilling all the same.
you will enjoy it!
Hard to say. Opening sticks out for some reason....
The interrogation scenes were intriguing, they were not violent as expected but intelligent
With bathroom breaks, yes, it was engaging enough to where I did not want to stop listening. I was thoroughly entertained
There are some great new ideas in the book along with affirmation of some old ones. It gives you a plethora of tools to dissect, analyze and hopefully cure whatever challenge is troubling you. Myself being perfect often had the thought while listening " Holy Crap! my wife needs to listen to this book!!" I have suggested this to her and when she lets me back in the house I'll let you know if it has helped her too. I had several things in my life I wanted to change and I can honestly say after the book, a couple have gotten better and one, the important one, 100% change in the right direction.
The jokes are at times BAD but you cannot help but laugh at them.
Really needs a new narrator. But don't let that deter you from listening
No, and I don't think you should try. you will understand after the first chapter.
Will power Challenge: Avoid pointing out areas where wife can improve....
This will be funny after you read the book.......maybe......
The Characters and the incredible research that Ken follet must have done to develop them and place them in such vivid and accurate settings was most impressive.
This is not a type of read I would normally be attracted to but I am glad I read it. I can honestly say I feel better educated about a time in world history that does not get much attention in popular media. Honestly, who knew Lenin was a redhead?
Not sure, with it being so well written with factual events you can anticipate what is to come in the story or know the inevitable future for a character. There were times while reading I wished it would pick up pace or throw a twist in to keep you on your toes but fear this might cheapen the work. Go into it with an open mind and in the end you should at least have an appreciation of Ken's talent of creating the most detailed world through words.
No, but I would make an effort to listen to a second performance.
Dear god, I want to meet the person that tries.
By the end, you will be able to annoy all your friends with your mastery of european accents.
No, I already know what happens...... Why would you even ask that question?
Early America secret spy ring, secrets hidden in the most un-loved of attractions in Washington, A-hole politicians getting exposed for what they are, what’s not to like.
It was an engaging story with fun characters that did not necessarily keep you at the edge of your seat but definitely kept your mind racing to try and figure out who was good and who was bad. I looked forward to the chance to listen every day.
First kisses are never as good as you remember them to be.
You will enjoy it.
The book picks up where the last one left off and does not waste a lot of time on pre-established character development which is nice. familiar characters with familiar idiosyncrasies I think slows interest into the story. New characters were nice to see but the overall plot is so un-engaging you find yourself having to repeatedly rewind to try and figure out what happened while your mind wandered for the last ten minutes. the sub plots are more intriguing than the main story line and the slight twists thrown in at the end are fun but definitely not a Kaiser Soze I didn't see that coming kind of moment. not the best... not the worst...
Of course! he is a smart and witty author capable some great work.
they are all the same.
Maybe, if they added some humor to it and kept it fun and engaging, Sure. If they went the mystery for idiots route of Da Vinci code, Definitely not.
I am Kaiser Soze!!!
