I started the series with this book. And I will give it a go with book one, but I was disappointed. It's called a Ruth Galloway investigation, but she barely investigates anything, and doesn't know what is going on outside her egocentric world most of the time. it's generally accepted that the title character in a mystery book is going to be in the middle of all the action, or fully immersed in finding out what happened, but you're not going to get that with this book. I am hoping that this is an abberation in the series.
This is a GAY romance and it's narrated by a woman. I am seriously disappointed in this audible book. I Love this story, I was so looking forward to having this in my audible library as well as my ebook library. I have read it many time - Its one of my all time favorite Gay Romance novels. Hell, its one of my all time favorite romance novels regardless of genre. A go-to read when I want a pull your heartstrings romance with HEA. And I just can't listen to a woman read it, I could just weep. I do understand having the same narrator for a series when the same lead characters are the main in each book, but the same narrator just because the Author grouped the books as a series is totally ridiculous! Joey's complete series is a number of different couples and their relationship, but somebody decided because it was a "series" they only needed one narrator. Sigh........Didn't anybody take the time to find out what the story line was before contracting the narrator? I love this story so much that I tried to overcome a woman's voice reading for male characters, but I could not take it. I will be asking for my money back. I hope that Audible will realize their error and will re-release this book with a male narrator. I will gladly repurchase if that ever happens.
Great set of stories and the perfect narrator. Josh is a wonderful writer, he is on my immediate purchase list of authors, and now that he has the rights to most of his stories he is making sure that his characters come to life with the right voice(s) Alexander J. Masters is amazing. Don't waste your money on "I Spy something Bloody" buy the complete set with "In From the Cold"
The prolog was great, and Will Wheaton was a good choice for narrator, but I could not listen to anymore of "Duval said:.......Dahl said:.......Duval said:.......Dahl said:.......Duval said:.......Dahl said:.......Duval said:.......Dahl said:...." When they brought Hanson into the conversation I had to call it quits. Did they add this for the narration or was the original book this badly edited?
Something from the Nightside was fun, fast, and Marc Vietor gave the perfect voice to John Taylor. I am in fact listening to it for a second time; immediately after hearing it the first time
The surprise at the ending........don't want to give anything away, but the twist was a good one
He created the perfect voice for John Taylor.
Moved - no; made me laugh, smile, chuckle, rewind to hear it again - oh hells, yeah!
Peter Straub always delivers a delicious ending, but only after he has nearly bored you to death with minutia travel-log like details. Stephen King has reined in that tendancy to a degree but still in the first chapter you are give an exacting detail of the businesses on the main street of the city, and none of them are ever entered into during the remainder of the story. Black House flows well, the characters are well built and you will love some, and hate some. there are moments of high tension, and sorrow, and the ending will make you beg for more.
Marcus and Joseph's story. My least favorite in the series, can't understand characters that turn their backs on the love of their life - even for a short while, or even when it ends HEA
Leith & Simon's story. They will suffer thru hell for each other. A great series
Ryan & Julian's story. Julian is one of Mary's beautiful but doesn't know it characters. So much fun to read.
