Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages - not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

Would you consider the audio edition of Daughter of Smoke and Bone to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but I truly found this book to be exceptional, by far the best book I've read on audible.

What other book might you compare Daughter of Smoke and Bone to and why?

I can't compare this book to any other, it's unique and stands alone. Sometimes you come across a book that transcends what you expect and desire from a book by such leaps and bounds that you can't compare it to anything else. It stands alone in it's own category.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I had not listened to Khristine before, yet I feel that this performance was flawless. I was ready to give up on audiobooks after attempting to get through 50 Shades of Grey and suffering. This book was amazing though and I give great credit to Khristine Hvam's performance for taking a stellar book, to the next level!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was highly addictive and I couldn't stop listening.

    Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to everyone, even if fantasy isn't your genre, the storytelling and richly woven details will make you a fan of Laini and Khristine.

When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

If you could sum up City of Bones in three words, what would they be?

    Unexpected, Adventurous, Enthralling

What other book might you compare City of Bones to and why?

City of Bones is only my second urban fantasy book, the other has been the Iron Druid series, while I wouldn't say the books are very much alike, I do enjoy that they're set in modern day with things going on that the "mundanes" aren't even aware of!

What about Ari Graynor’s performance did you like?

Ari was a good performer, especially her scenes as Isabelle, quite funny!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What can you believe, when even your eyes fool you?

    Any additional comments?

While I think the ending needed a bit of work, the plot twist wasn't well received by me, I still throughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to start City of Ashes.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to everyone. Not only does Kevin Hearne craft an amazing story in such a unique way, but Luke Daniels brings these characters to life vividly.

What other book might you compare Hounded to and why?

Hounded is virtually incomparable to any other story, but the series in general is right on par with my other favorite series book 1, The Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

Luke Daniels ability to give such a distinct voice to each of these characters and make you forget that he's the sole voice, is utterly unique unto him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book has so many moments where I burst out into laughter and just as many where I was on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what's next.

    Any additional comments?

Must listen for any fantasy lover!

One of the best-known stories in American culture, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has stirred the imagination of young and old alike for over 100 years. Best Actress nominee Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Alice In Wonderland), fresh from filming one of this year’s most anticipated films, The Dark Knight Rises, lends her voice to this uniquely American fairy tale.

If you could sum up The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in three words, what would they be?

    Exciting, Fun, Different

What did you like best about this story?

What I liked and enjoyed most was how vastly different this book is from the very famous film. Dorothy and her friends truly embark upon a journey that takes quite a long time and leads them to encounter things that weren't at all like the movie.

What does Anne Hathaway bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Anne's acting background is ever present, to be honest I think this may be her best acting performance to date.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was, but since I started it at night, I listened to it in 2 sittings instead!

    Any additional comments?

I truly don't think the film did justice to the amazing brilliance of the book. So much was lost in that adaptation and sadly I feel like many people won't bother reading the book because they think they know the story, they don't at all!

If you could sum up The Vampire Diaries, Book 1 in three words, what would they be?

    Exciting, Fun, Mysterious

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Vampire Diaries, Book 1?

I think the storyline of Elena and really fleshing out the details of the characters past, prior to the book, really was my favorite part. Giving much needed background and explaining why the character is the way she is, was very helpful.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca Mozo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I hadn't listened to any of Rebecca's performances before, but that said, this was a great performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I think the CW already did that, "Catch VD"

    Any additional comments?

Very different from the tv series, but that only made it more exciting to read!

Would you try another book from E L James and/or Becca Battoe?

    No

What could E L James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Develop and maintain a plot that isn't ONLY about sex. Sex is fine, I'm not a prude, but to make a book that is this explicit and doesn't have a decent plot line to back it up isn't a great plan.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe’s performances?

No, Becca Battoe's performance was dismal, it only made worse an already poor novel.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It had the potential to be a good book and interesting, but instead of furthering the plot and fleshing out the characters more, it got lost in the sexual encounters.

    Any additional comments?

I really tried to give this book a fair shot, I kept listening when both Becca and the novel had lost my interest. I found that instead of being drawn in and caring about these characters and wanting to find out more, that I was instead having the opposite reaction and found myself only listening further so that it wasn't a waste of a credit. I was excited for a new trilogy, but this book didn't hold my interest enough or develop the characters enough to make me want to read the other two in the series.
