This book was out of my norm, I usually like hear stories based in early times, you know, kings, castles, swords. This book is good, it was well narrated, and the story caught my attention right away. Finished it in a couple of days. I would say it's worth the credit.

Love all the books for this series. There is one in the series that switches the narrator to another person and that one is not as good, but all the rest are great.

It is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces, some familiar, others only just appearing, are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead.

I had to write my opinion of this book because I read many reviews and felt like most of them were wrong on one point. It actually is a very good book just like the rest of them. The story continues on most the characters he just leaves some out for the next book and adds a few new ones. The only really bad thing about this one is the narrator. He messes the whole thing up, he doesn't know when to emaphasize and doesn't do any voices so you can barely tell when one leaves off and another starts talking. If it wasn't for this narrator, I think it would have been just as good as the rest of the books. If you can get past this narrator I think it's totally worth it. I am looking forward to hearing Dotrice again though.

  • Angela's Ashes

Why we think it’s a great listen: There’s no gentle way to put this – Frank McCourt’s performance of Angela’s Ashes is just better than the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Frank McCourt shares his sometimes heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of growing up poor, Irish, and Catholic in the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes.

Karen says: "A classic book *and* a classic audiobook"
"Five stars does not begin to describe it"
    Overall

Many books go on and come off my device, but Angelas Ashes always stays. This is hands down the best book I have ever listened to. Frank McCourt is brilliant in his narration and he brings every single character to life so you have a picture in your mind of what they looked like and even the expressions on the faces as they talk. I tell everyone I know to listen to this book, don't just read it because you miss so much. By listening, you can get the whole experience because when he reads to you, you can feel the emotions in his voice.

In the tradition of T.H. White's The Once and Future King, the author makes use of the prerequisites of the Arthurian legend: Excalibur, the Holy Grail, Lancelet's illicit love for Gwenhwyfar, the destruction of Camelot, but with a twist - she presents the entire panoramic story from the female point of view.

leslie says: "Excellent Narration-Frustrating Hatchet Job"
    "Great Series"
    Overall

This is a good book and a good series as well. When I first started listening, I was a little bored with it, but it got better as I got more into it. It ends so well that you will want to hear the second third and fourth book, and they just get better. I love tales of the mid evil ages and this one makes the characters come to life in my head. I love Davina Porter's voice and she does not dissapoint in this series, as she did not dissapoint in the Outlander series. If you like stories of castles and ladies in court check this one out.

When I read the review of this book, I read one that said that this book reads like a cheap scifi movie or something along that line. I depend on reviews when I buy a book and I should have really listened to this one. I am sorry to say that this was one of the dumbest audios I have listened to. Sorry, don't waste your credit here.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I am a fan of all different types of audio books, they just need to be good. I really enjoyed this one. Sometimes I am hesitant when I buy a book that no one has recomended and I am just looking for something good to listen to because I have bought books I never finished listening to. I recomend this one because it is a good story, not at all boring, and touching. I really did like this one :o)

  • The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Born mute, speaking only in sign, Edgar Sawtelle leads an idyllic life with his parents and an unusual breed of dogs on their farm in remote northern Wisconsin. But when tragedy strikes the Sawtelle family, Edgar flees to the surrounding wilderness. He comes of age in the wild, fighting for his survival and that of the three yearling dogs who follow him.

    Overall

I liked the book, but it was pretty boring. When the narrator said "the end" I was shocked that it would end like that. I really don't get this book, there was no ending, and it never really explains what the dogs are all about. So they can make decisions, ok.....and that's it about it. It is so sad that a little boy has to go through all that for absolutely nothing. I end this book with more question marks in my head than I had at the beging and the middle. Not bad, but not really all that good either.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Once I listened to this first book I had to keep going. I love the story line and I am now on book 6, which does not have an unabridged audio so I am reading it so as not to miss one word. This book, however, surpasses the rest as far as excitement and romance. The romance is so tastefully done it was a pleasure to listen to from begining to end.
