  • Twilight: The Twilight Saga, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Stephenie Meyer
    • Narrated By Ilyana Kadushin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Bryan J. Peterson says: "A waste of my time this wasn't."

I am not a teenager. I do not read fiction. I did end up reading all four books and loved them! I do not want to leave this world. Which is why I am rereading breaking dawn. So..Waiting for Midnight Sun! The movie does not do this book justice and the narrator of this was awesome. I am looking for more books with her as the narrator!

Thrilled to have her family back again, Annie promises to make their visit perfect - even though relations between mother and daughter have never been smooth.

    "Couldn't finish it"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not really sure. I mean the characters were interesting, the setting, beautiful. But no meat to the story. It didn't keep my interest. And alternating between points of view was confusing. Charlie was cute though. Smart kid for his age.

Would you ever listen to anything by Dorothea Benton Frank again?

    Not sure

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Couldn't differentiate between points of view. Sounded like the same person

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Liked the characters and setting. There just seemed to be no story. The food descriptions

  • Gone Girl: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Gillian Flynn
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan, Kirby Heyborne
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Teddy says: "Demented, twisted, sick and I loved it!"
"maybe its me, just didnt keep me interested"
What would have made Gone Girl better?

I tried to read this three separate times. just couldn't finish it. Guess it was not for me

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    The narrator was fine

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Any additional comments?

To me it seemed to never get to the point. While others loved it, it just did not keep me engaged

  • Whistling Past the Graveyard

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Susan Crandall
    • Narrated By Amy Rubinate
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the summer of 1963, nine-year-old spitfire Starla Claudelle runs away from her strict grandmother's Mississippi home. Starla hasn't seen her momma since she was three - that's when Lulu left for Nashville to become a famous singer. If she can get to Nashville and find her momma, then all that she promised will come true: Lulu will be a star. Daddy will come to live in Nashville, too. And her family will be whole and perfect.

Laurette says: "Feisty red-headed little girl takes on the south"
    "Excellent plot and entertaining characters"
What did you love best about Whistling Past the Graveyard?

Starla's personality and how her character grew throughout the story.

What other book might you compare Whistling Past the Graveyard to and why?

The Help, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, The Kitchen House. Similar settings and issues but a unique story.

    Which scene was your favorite?

SPOILER ALERT: when Porter stood up to and broke free of Mamie. Creating change for Starla and himself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

They all had been through so much. but they never lost hope and things turned out ok towards the end. So many times in the book when th ings were near impossible and they never lost their faith or hope. So hard to pick just one moment.

    Any additional comments?

This was an amazing story with entertaining characters. At times it was difficult to read. But as I said these people never lost hope. worthy of a reread imo. I am hoping to see more from Me Crandall and Starla. I highly recommend this

  • Breaking Dawn: The Twilight Saga, Book 4

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 29 mins)
    • By Stephenie Meyer
    • Narrated By Ilyana Kadushin, Matt Walters
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare, woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife to reach the ultimate turning point.

Angie says: "I couldn't wait for the audio book"

Ok I am not a fiction reader AT ALL. I only read true crime-facts and statistics! Let me just say I was totally sucked into this world and awaiting the next book..Midnight sun! I have read all four books in less than two weeks! I am reading this one again. There is more action and plot twists in this one then all other three combined! Awesome. Ilyana Kadushan is an awesome Narrator by the way. I am looking for more books narrated by her now!
