One evening, Danny, an East End cockney who works as a garage mechanic, takes his girlfriend up to the West End to celebrate their engagement. He crosses the path of Spencer Craig, a West End barrister tipped to be the youngest Queen's Counsel of his generation. A few hours later Danny is arrested for murder and later is sentenced to 22 years in prison.

    "Very entertaining read"

The storyline is somewhat implausible, but the book is well-written and thoroughly engaging. It really kept me moving on my long hikes through the mountains!

In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Laura says: "Repetitive, but still enjoyable"
"Great follow-up to Pillars of the Earth"
    Overall

This is without exception one of the best books I have read in a long time. The other is Follet's Pillars of the Earth. Both books are filled with interesting historical details and engaging characters to both love and hate.
