A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Book 1 Speaks the NightBird was so amazing and fully engaging, my expectations were the same for Queen of Bedlam. I was disappointed, it's half way through until you are introduced to the Queen of Bedlam, I never had a feel to where the story was going until half way through. I thought many times to put in to rest. however the narrator, simply sucks you into the period and makes up for what story didnt deliver. In the end I was pleased, but not to the extent of Nightbird.

The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

The longest book in my library.. I didn't want it to end. I could have stayed with characters another 30 hours.
This was not my usual pick, I am not sure how I ended up with the purchase. But no dissappointement here.
Characters were living and breathing through the narrator.. amazing capture...I was sucked in.

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

I thought the carry over from The Shinning was brilliant. Danny did not grow up so glamourous, though not many characters of King do. I love the stories of the down-trodden, they always seem to come back to kick some ass.
This story was long but I listened in my car, on the treadmill, the grocery store.... you name it. Totally captivating.
It always goes back to the demons we carry... excellent....bravo....

In many ways, Reeve LeClaire looks like a typical 22 year old girl. But Reeve is anything but normal. 10 years ago, she was kidnapped and held captive. After a lucky escape, she's spent the last six years trying to rebuild her life, a recovery thanks in large part to her indispensable therapist Dr. Ezra Lerner. But when he asks her to help another girl rescued from a similar situation, Reeve realizes she may not simply need to mentor this young victim - she may be the only one who can protect her from a cunning predator who is still out there, watching every move.

It begins with a chilling phone call to Casey Woods. And ends with another girl dead. College-age girls with long red hair. Brutally murdered, they're posed like victims in a film noir. Each crime scene is eerily similar to the twisted fantasy of a serial offender now serving thirty years to life - a criminal brought to justice with the help of Forensic Instincts. Call. Kill. Repeat. But the similarities are more than one psychopath's desire to outdo another.
