In the years since the wave of living death swept the globe, St George and his fellow heroes haven't just kept Los Angeles' last humans alive - they’ve created a real community, a bustling town that's spreading beyond its original walls and swelling with new refugees. But now one of the heroes, perhaps the most powerful among them, seems to be losing his mind. The implacable enemy known as Legion has found terrifying new ways of using zombies as pawns in his attacks.

Peter Clines is a great story teller and this story is no exception. The Heroes are all very cool especially Corpse Girl and Captain Freedom. I hoped that Capt Freedom adopted Corpse girl it seemed the perfect out come.Im starting to like the Rodney character for some reason hope he get more page time in the next one....Zap is funny and Stealth is her usual all knowing self but drops a little more of her mystery in this one.Yip get it just for Capt Freedoms voice if not for the great story.

Charlie Campbell was your average, balding, thirty-year-old alcoholic with a dead-end job and a penchant for shambling through life one mistake after another. However, none of that mattered following the sudden arrival of a mysterious sickness that brought with it infected mobs of zombie-like creatures thirsting for the flesh of the living. Trapped in a Chicago apartment the morning after a raucous bachelor party, Charlie and his old fraternity buddies must battle for survival against the cannibalistic horde, a military invasion and their own rampant stupidity.

This is a very cool book about some major losers. Is that possible and the answer is absolutely. You find yourself disliking one or all of the central characters at least one or often multiple times.through the book. But its a unusual tale it grows on you like a foot fungus and before you know it its become an object of facination as you want to see how it develops as you pick away the layers while not totally at ease with its exhistance. Get it its the best bit of mindless entertainment you will come across that is totally worth the cash..

As the world spirals even further down into the abyss of apocalypse, one man struggles to keep those around him safe. Michael stands side by side with his wife, their children, his friends, and the wonder Bulldog, along with the Wal-Mart greeter Tommy, who is infinitely more than he appears. Whether Tommy is leading Mike and his family and friends to salvation or death remains to be seen.

I like the series so far. I like Mike Talbot and i like the other characters too.Action aplenty. Good character development. Good narrator.
My only criticism and its a minor one is some of the flash backs and dream story lines are to long for me.But its only a minor set back to an otherwise great book and series.

I have to admit i enjoyed these stories as much as the kids. Zac is pretty cool and the Aussie narrator is perfect.Zac is a super spy kid who gets these James Bond style missions that he has to get done before dinner or chores at home. He uses gadgets and fights super villains, but its always appropriate for kids of all ages.Thank you Zac for a trouble free, easy road trip with two kids for four days. You legend!!

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

Yea i liked it mostly. I think the characters were not always likable or admirable but the showed they had the stuff to survive. Would have liked to hear more about the destruction but that just might be ghoulish ole me. A bit soft core for me. And a little bit happy ending (ish) but i didn't regret the spent credit. My favorite character was not Hammer he was a jelly fish.

He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

I love this series and would be the first to go see it in movie form except for the fact NZ never gets any movies first, except those Hobbit movies.Don't be surprised if you fall asleep at work after listening in bed all night. Its just that hard to stop listening.
The only thing i am confused with is the name Monster Hunter International since almost all of the monsters seem to come looking for them, not a great deal of Hunting involved.
Will definitely buy the next in the series, hell after this long i need to know what the end brings.
By the way if you are a book nerd buying this book will make you more cool buying the series will make you super frosty. Get in to it!

This true modern masterpiece is built around the two fateful words that make up the title and herald the end - “Alas, Babylon.” When a nuclear holocaust ravages the United States, a thousand years of civilization are stripped away overnight, and tens of millions of people are killed instantly. But for one small town in Florida, miraculously spared, the struggle is just beginning, as men and women of all backgrounds join together to confront the darkness....

I did like the uplifting feel of the book but wonder how likely it would be to unfold this way in real life after a nuclear war.
The love of the US military even after they had been a party in the destruction of their world, i found an interesting premise.
Is that a result of the 1950's cold war propaganda influence upon the psyche at that time ?
Never the less i liked the characters especially Randy and his strong morals. I enjoyed the narrators style.
Would have liked to hear more about the towns reaction to the hanging of the Highway Man. Just seemed to be breezed over.....
Overall i never felt this was a dated story and enjoyed their ingenuity in solving various difficulties.
