From July 10, 1943, the date of the Allied landing in Sicily, to May 8, 1945, when victory in Europe was declared - the entire time it took to liberate Europe - no regiment saw more action, and no single platoon, company, or battalion endured worse, than the ones commanded by Felix Sparks, who had entered the war as a greenhorn second lieutenant of the 157th "Eager for Duty" Infantry Regiment of the 45th "Thunderbird" Division. Sparks and his fellow Thunderbirds fought longest and hardest to defeat Hitler.

The books purpose in my mind was to dispell the rumors of Sparks part in the Dachau Massacre. I dont think Sparks made a good case that he wasnt a big part of the massacre. I'm not convinced that he couldnt have preveneted it. It happened uder his command. Secondly, the story is quite good until the anti gun agenda is revealed at the end. Be aware Sparks is a Dem Gun Grabber. Hero or not, warrior or not, he clearly spells out that it his opnion that that concealed carry is insantity and he faught the NRA tooth and nail. If your views are in line with the the likes of Jim Brady and his ilk then maybe the end wont disappoint. Disappointing end to a good story. I respect the mans serrvice in WW2. Had I known he was a gun grabber, I would not have baought this audiobook.
