Robert Baer was known inside the CIA as perhaps the best operative working the Middle East. Dana was originally tasked for Agency background checks, but always wanted more. When Bob and Dayna met on a mission in Sarajevo, it wasn’t love at first sight. But there was something there, a spark. And as the danger escalated and their affection for each other grew, they realized it was time to leave “the Company,” to somehow rediscover the people they’d once been. As worldly as they both were, the couple didn’t realize at first that turning in their Agency ID cards would not be enough to put their covert past behind.

This is just a story about 2 spies and some of their life as spies. It is interesting from the point of how spies travel and move around, that is about it.

The worst part is the authors read the story. I thought that the authors would have some interest, but they sound like they are reading their shopping list. It is hard to keep track of what is going on through the continuous monotone voices droning on and on....

Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

Would you listen to A Cat Was Involved again? Why?

This short story lets us know how Chet managed to "fail" his jump test, and how he came to be with Bernie. Another great Chet and Bernie story!

Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man - a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Only got a few minuted into it and had to turn it off. For those of you that do not appreciate hearing the F word and other similar words - this book is not for you.
The narrator does a great job.
I really wish that there was some kind of rating system for books!

What could Mark Greaney have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Expand his vocabulary and not use foul language

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

Not sure what happened with the person that said the narration was poor. This book is read in her typical fashion - excellent!

    Any additional comments?

Elizabeth Peters spends more time on the characters and their interactions. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

This is a great mystery - clean and funny with an entertaining heroine and hero. What makes this book come to life is the narrator. Barbara Rosenblat is simply amazing! Her intonations and different voices for each character make this book easy to follow and picture clearly in my head.

I have listened to Ms. Rosenblat narrate many books, and have come to the conclusion to listen to anything she narrates - because she will make it thoroughly entertaining!

I have to admit that I am spoiled by Tony Britton's excellent narration. Fiacre Douglas does not distinguish between the voices well, if at all. There are times when he sounds like he is reading the book for the 1000th time and is completely bored. Once you get past the narration and figure out how to keep track of who is speaking, it is a typical Dick Francis novel - which I love.

For the first time in more than three years, best-selling authors Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey have teamed up again to do what they do best: add another chapter to the Dragonriders of Pern. Even though Lorana cured the plague that was killing the dragons of Pern, sacrificing her queen dragon in the process, the effects of the disease were so devastating that there are no longer enough dragons available to fight the fall of deadly Thread. And as the situation grows more dire, a pregnant Lorana decides that she must take drastic steps in the quest for help.

I LOVE the Pern books! So much that I did not read the reviews before purchasing this book. I wish I had....

I started to listen to this one, not realizing that it was the second (or third?) in a series. The description of the plot is confusing on Audible. (I figured out what was wrong when I read the description on Amazon.) SInce it started off with a synopsis of what had happened, I thought I would give it a listen. I gave up after 20 minutes.

Todd has not developed his mother's skill at story telling. It is Todd's little excursion into "Gee, what would happen if I went back in time, then forward, then maybe back and see myself?"

The established laws of time travel by dragons is not followed. I have never given up on a book so quickly. Don't waste your money!

Travel back to the earliest days of Pernese history in this first-ever Dragonriders of Pern short story collection. Building a new life on a distant world, braving the dreaded Thread that falls like silver rain from the sky only to destroy every living thing it touches, flying heroically on the wondrous dragons - The Dragonriders of Pern!

This is great for those who want to know how it all started. MacRae is not a good narrator, though. It was very difficult to follow her as she read - she runs the sentences together so it is hard to tell when there is a new sentence starting. I only stuck with it to know the history.

I have the new testament in audio form on cassettes and listen to that every morning while I get dressed. It is dramatized, which is great as each person has a different voice making it easier to follow.
This version is similar, but the background music can be loud and distracting. I have only been listening to Genesis, and I keep thinking the heavens are going to open and the angels will all be singing "AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa".
It is nice to have in the car while driving and I am working on getting over the music.

A mystery told from the perspective of a dog? Perfect! Jim Frangione has all the intonations and musings of a dog's mind down pat! This is a fun book. There is some bad language, not much, but the f-word is in here with some others. I am getting the rest of the series - Chet's thought processes are priceless!
